Ask five SEO agencies in Pune for a quote and you will likely get five different numbers, with little explanation for the gap. That is not because someone is lying to you. SEO pricing genuinely varies by scope, competition, and what stage your website is starting from. This is a plain-language breakdown of what SEO actually costs in the Indian market right now, what you get at each price point, and how to tell a fair quote from an inflated or hollow one.

A note before the numbers: these ranges come from published pricing guides across several Indian SEO and digital marketing agencies, not from a single official rate card. Cross-checking a few independent sources, the ranges land in a similar place, but treat this as a market snapshot rather than a fixed price list. Your actual quote will depend on your specific site and goals.

Typical monthly SEO retainer ranges in India

Entry level: roughly Rs 8,000 to Rs 25,000 a month. This tier usually covers a small number of target keywords (5 to 10), basic on-page fixes, Google Business Profile management, and a monthly report. It suits a local service business with a small website and modest competition.

Growth level: roughly Rs 25,000 to Rs 75,000 a month. This is where most small and mid-size businesses land. Expect 20 to 50 tracked keywords, several pieces of new content a month, a handful of backlinks, technical audits, and more frequent reporting.

Mid-market and above: roughly Rs 75,000 to Rs 1,50,000+ a month. This tier is built for businesses with real competition to fight, larger content operations, dedicated account management, and deeper technical work.

Enterprise: Rs 1,50,000 and up, sometimes well up, for multi-location or multi-market businesses with large sites and programmatic SEO needs.

Project-based work (a one-time audit, a site migration, a penalty recovery) is priced separately, usually somewhere between Rs 20,000 and Rs 1,00,000+ depending on the size of the job.

What actually drives the price

The number on the quote is not arbitrary. A few things move it up or down in a predictable way.

How competitive your keywords are. Ranking for a low-competition, hyperlocal term costs far less effort than ranking for a term every agency in the city is also chasing.

The state of your website. A site with a clean technical foundation and some existing authority needs less initial work than a site with years of technical debt, thin content, or a past penalty to recover from.

How much content the plan needs. Content is usually the single biggest recurring cost inside an SEO retainer, since it takes real research and writing time every month, not a one-time fix.

Link building volume and quality. A handful of genuinely relevant backlinks a month costs more, and does more, than a large volume of low-quality ones. Be wary of any quote that promises many links for very little money; the quality is usually the first casualty.

Your industry. Regulated or highly competitive categories (finance, healthcare, real estate) generally cost more to rank in than a low-competition local service niche.

What a fair quote should include, whatever the price

At almost any budget level, a legitimate SEO plan should tell you: which keywords it is targeting and why, what work happens on your site each month, how content and links are being handled, and how you will be shown progress. If a quote cannot answer those four questions in writing, the price is beside the point.

Warning signs worth knowing before you sign anything

A guaranteed number one ranking is not something any honest agency can promise, since nobody, including the agency, controls how Google ranks pages. A price that looks dramatically cheaper than everything else you have seen is usually cheaper because the work behind it is thin or automated in ways that can hurt you later. And a scope that is vague about what you are actually getting each month is a scope that is hard to hold anyone accountable to, regardless of the number attached to it.

Where this leaves you

If a quote falls inside these ranges and the agency can explain, in specific terms, what your money buys each month, it is probably a reasonable one. If it cannot, the number matters less than what is missing from the explanation.

At Liftup Technologies we run SEO for businesses across Pune and internationally, and we would rather walk you through a scope and a real quote for your specific site than publish a one-size-fits-all price here. If you want to see where your numbers would actually land, get in touch and we will talk it through.
