In short

Liftup Technologies builds AI and workflow automation for businesses in Japan, working remotely from India with calls booked in Japanese working hours. We design flows in n8n, Make, Zapier or custom code, add OpenAI or Anthropic models where reading or drafting is needed, and connect tools such as LINE, Google Workspace and kintone. Projects start at $1,500, with a fixed quote after a short call.

Where automation helps in a Japanese office

Many Japanese teams still pass work between email, spreadsheets, paper scans and chat. Staff re-type the same details into several systems, and approval chains are long. Automation does not remove the approval chain. It removes the copying between steps, so people spend their time on checking and deciding.

We start by mapping one process end to end: who sends what, which system holds the truth, and where mistakes happen. Then we automate the repetitive middle and leave judgment calls to your staff.

Typical workflows we build

Lead routingEnriches a new lead and assigns it to a sales owner by region or productSales owner follows up

Tools and connections

We use n8n, Make or Zapier when a visual workflow is enough, and write code when volume, logic or security needs it. Models come from the OpenAI or Anthropic APIs. Japanese companies often use Google Workspace, Slack, Chatwork, kintone, freee, Money Forward and LINE. Most expose APIs, though plan level decides what is available, so we check access during scoping.

On the invoice side, the National Tax Agency publishes a public lookup for qualified invoice issuers, and it can be used to check a registration number. We confirm the current method with your accountant before building anything that touches tax records.

APPI, security and approvals

Automations touch customer and employee data. Under APPI, overseen by the Personal Information Protection Commission, you stay responsible for personal information you pass to service providers. Sending data to a model provider abroad has its own conditions. Your lawyer should confirm the legal basis, and we help by documenting each flow.

  • Credentials are kept in the automation tool's secret store, never in workflow text.
  • Each workflow has a named owner and a log of runs and errors.
  • Steps that send money, delete records or message customers wait for a person to approve.
  • We test with sample data first and switch to live data only after you sign off.

Project timeline

  1. Process mapOne call and a shared diagram. Japan is 3.5 hours ahead of India, so 11:00 in Pune is 14:30 in Tokyo.
  2. Build and testA working flow on sample data, with weekly demos and written notes.
  3. PilotRun alongside the manual process for a few weeks and compare results.
  4. HandoverDocumentation in your accounts, with a short training session for the owner.

Busy closing periods matter. Many Japanese companies close their books around the end of March, so we avoid go-lives in the weeks before then, unless the change is urgent.

Starting small: three quick wins

The first workflow should be small enough to finish in a few weeks and visible enough that staff notice the change. Good candidates are a website enquiry form that creates a CRM record and sends a thank-you message, a weekly report that gathers figures from spreadsheets and writes a summary, and a reminder flow for appointments or payments.

Once the first flow runs reliably, the second is faster, because credentials, naming and logging are already in place. We keep a register of every workflow with its owner, trigger, systems touched and last review date, so changes by staff or vendors do not leave you with flows nobody understands.

We also plan for failure. A flow that breaks quietly is worse than no flow. Each one sends an alert to a named person when a step fails, and we test what happens when a connected tool changes its fields or is down for maintenance.

Price

Projects start at $1,500, with a rate of $30 an hour and a fixed quote after the call on the contact page. Number of systems, volume, document types and testing in Japanese move the price. The AI automation cost guide and the ROI calculator help you estimate, and our general AI automation page explains the method.

Questions, answered

Which tool should we use, n8n, Make or Zapier?
We choose by volume, budget and hosting needs. n8n can be self-hosted, Make and Zapier are quicker to start. Our Make vs Zapier comparison covers the main differences.
Can it read scanned Japanese documents?
Often yes, with OCR and vision-capable models. Accuracy depends on scan quality and layout, so we test with your real documents and keep a human check on key fields.
Can it post to LINE?
Yes, through the LINE Messaging API with a LINE Official Account, within LINE plan limits and message fees.
Will automation replace staff?
We aim to remove copying and checking work. People still approve, decide and handle exceptions.
Who owns the workflows?
You do. Flows live in your automation accounts, and we document them at handover.
