AI chatbots for dealers

AI chatbots for car dealerships

Car shoppers browse at night and on weekends, and they message three dealers at once. A chatbot tied to your live stock replies in seconds, books the test drive and leaves the sales team a warm lead.

In short

A dealership AI chatbot answers questions about vehicles in stock, opening hours, service slots and finance basics, using your inventory feed and approved wording. It books test drives and service appointments, captures trade-in details and passes the lead to a salesperson with the vehicle attached. Liftup Technologies builds it for your site and messaging channels. Projects start at $1,500.

Where dealership leads go cold

A shopper asks at 9 pm whether the blue hatchback on your site is still available. The reply comes the next afternoon, by which time they have visited a rival. Online enquiries pile up over the weekend, and the people who handle them are on the showroom floor with customers in front of them.

Service departments have a similar gap. Customers want to book an MOT, a service or a recall check and call during working hours, tying up reception phones.

Weekends matter most. Many shoppers research on Saturday and Sunday when the showroom is busiest and the follow-up team is thinnest. A bot that replies instantly and books a slot for Monday morning keeps the enquiry alive until someone is free.

What the chatbot does

  • Answers availability, trim, mileage and feature questions using your live inventory feed, not a stale page.
  • Books a test drive and sends the salesperson a note with the car, the customer and the time.
  • Collects trade-in details such as make, model, year, mileage and condition, plus photos if the customer has them.
  • Explains finance options in general terms and routes real quotes to your finance manager.
  • Books service slots, answers courtesy car and opening-hours questions and explains what to bring.
  • Captures an enquiry on a vehicle that has just sold and offers close alternatives.

We connect to what dealers commonly use, for example a DMS or CRM such as CDK, Reynolds, DealerSocket or Pinewood, a stock feed from your website provider, and Google Calendar or the system's own booking. Integration depth varies and we confirm it before quoting.

Price and finance statements are regulated advertising in many places. The bot repeats only the figures and wording that your compliance lead has approved.

Rules that matter for dealers

Advertised prices, finance terms and used-car descriptions must be accurate. In the US the FTC and state rules apply, in the UK the CMA and Trading Standards enforce consumer law, and Australia and Ireland have their own consumer regulators. We keep the bot from inventing prices, discounts or finance rates, and from describing a vehicle beyond what the listing says. Check with your lawyer or trade body on wording, especially for finance.

Customers who hand over a phone number should know how it will be used. We add consent text and honor opt-outs, and keep the bot out of any credit decision.

How the build goes

  1. Stock feed firstWe check how your inventory reaches the website and whether the bot can read it live.
  2. Rules from sales and service managersHours, deposit policy, test-drive conditions, what to say about trade-ins.
  3. Build and rehearseSalespeople test as customers, including the pushy and the vague ones.
  4. Soft launchFirst in off-hours only, then full time once handovers look right.
  5. Monthly reviewWe study lost leads and unanswered questions.

The work is remote from Pune. For the overall method, see AI chatbot development. Dealers who also want phone coverage can look at AI voice agents for car dealerships.

Cost for a dealership

A chatbot that reads a stock feed, books test drives and sends leads to your CRM can come close to our $1,500 minimum for a single site. Several rooftops, a DMS integration, WhatsApp or a service-booking link add hours at $30 an hour. We give a fixed quote within one working day of the call. Cost moves mostly with how clean the stock feed is and how much of the service workflow you want in chat. The AI chatbot cost page explains the general drivers.

Questions, answered

Can the bot quote a trade-in value?
We advise against it. It collects details and photos, and your appraiser gives the number after checking the car.
Will it know when a car has sold?
If it reads your live stock feed, yes. Any delay depends on how often your feed refreshes, and we test that in setup.
Does it work with Facebook Marketplace messages?
Possibly, subject to what Meta's messaging tools allow for your account. We check the current options before promising it.
What happens if the lead wants to buy now?
It alerts the on-duty salesperson immediately with the vehicle and conversation, and tells the customer what happens next.
Can it handle used and new stock differently?
Yes. New cars can follow manufacturer-approved descriptions and offers, while used cars show mileage, service history and any condition notes from your listing. The bot never adds claims that are not in the listing.
