n8n automation agency: workflows that keep running
We build n8n workflows for lead handling, reporting, onboarding and AI steps, and we add the retries and alerts that make them safe to leave alone.
In short
An n8n automation agency designs and runs workflows in n8n, the open workflow tool, that move data between your apps and add AI steps where useful. Liftup maps the process on paper first, builds the workflow with retries, duplicate protection and error alerts, hosts it on n8n Cloud or your own server, and sends a short monthly run report.
What n8n is and why teams pick it
n8n is a workflow tool. You connect a trigger, such as a form submission, a new row or an incoming email, to a chain of steps that call other apps, transform data, branch on conditions and write results somewhere. It has hundreds of ready connectors and an HTTP node for anything that has an API.
Teams choose it over simpler tools for three reasons. It can run on your own server, so data stays where you decide. Its pricing is based on workflow executions, not on every individual step. And it lets a developer drop into code when a visual node is not enough. If you are still choosing, our n8n vs Make comparison lays out the trade-offs.
A workflow, node by node
Abstract promises about automation are cheap, so here is one real shape of workflow we build often: a new enquiry from a website form.
| Step | Node type | What it does | What can go wrong |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Webhook | Receives the form submission | Bots posting junk: add a hidden field and a rate check |
| 2 | IF | Drops submissions with no email or a disposable domain | Real people using unusual domains: log drops, do not delete them |
| 3 | HTTP Request | Looks up the company from the email domain | Lookup service is down: continue without the extra data |
| 4 | AI step | Classifies the message as sales, support or spam | Wrong class: confidence below a threshold goes to a person |
| 5 | CRM node | Creates or updates the contact, using email as the unique key | Duplicates: update instead of create |
| 6 | Slack or email | Notifies the owner with a link to the record | Message fails: retry three times, then raise an alert |
| 7 | Wait and check | After one working day, checks if anyone replied | Nobody did: reminder to the owner's manager |
The interesting parts are steps 2, 5 and 7. Filtering, duplicate protection and follow-up checks are what separate a demo from something that survives a busy month.
How we work
- Map the process on paperWe write down who does what today, where data lives and where it gets stuck. Some processes need fixing before they need automating.
- Choose what to automate firstWe rank candidates by hours saved and by risk. The first workflow should be useful and forgiving.
- Build in a test instanceWe use sample data and a sandbox account, never your live CRM, until the workflow passes every case on the list.
- Add the safety layerRetries with back-off, an error workflow that alerts you, idempotency keys so reruns do not duplicate, and credentials stored in n8n's vault.
- Go live and watchFor the first two weeks we read every failed execution with you and adjust.
- Hand over or keep runningYou get documentation and a recorded walkthrough, or we maintain the instance under a monthly arrangement.

Get a proposalCloud or self-hosted
| n8n Cloud | Self-hosted on your server | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Minutes | A few hours, plus a database and backups |
| Data location | Vendor's regions | Wherever you host it, which helps with GDPR and data residency questions |
| Updates and uptime | Vendor handles it | You or we handle it |
| Fits | Small teams who want it working this week | Regulated data, high volume, or teams with an IT contact |
We start most clients on Cloud and move to self-hosting only when volume or data rules call for it. Moving later is possible because workflows export as files.
What you get
- Workflows running in your n8n account, with names and notes that another person can read
- A process diagram showing the trigger, steps, branches and owners
- An error workflow that sends failures to Slack or email
- A runbook: how to pause, rerun and roll back a workflow
- A short training call for the person who will own it
For pricing, you get a fixed quote after a short call. Send the process you want to automate through our contact page.
Timeline and reporting
A first workflow with two or three systems is typically ready in one to two weeks, planning estimates that we confirm in the quote. A set of five or six connected workflows takes longer, mostly because of waiting for access and test data from your side.
Each month we send a run report: executions, failures, the cause of each failure, and any change we made. If you have asked us to estimate hours saved, we show the method and the counts so you can check the arithmetic, using the automation ROI calculator as the common frame.
Related work and honest limits
None of our published case studies is an n8n project, and we will not borrow one. The closest is Aura Realty, where leads from the website, Instagram, WhatsApp and calls were brought into a custom CRM. That was a purpose-built CRM, and it shows the problem n8n often solves for smaller teams without a custom build.
You may not need us if you have one simple trigger and one action. A built-in integration in your CRM will do that for free. We become useful when there are branches, several systems, or an AI step that needs a safety net.

Comparisonn8n vs Make: which to choose in 2026
Both draw workflows as connected nodes. The deciding questions are who hosts it, who writes code in it and how your volume is counted.
Pricing guideHow much does AI automation cost in 2026?
Automation is priced per workflow, not per tool. Work out the hours it saves first, and the price becomes a decision you can check.
