Local SEO
Local SEO services for businesses that serve a place
If customers search near me or a town name, the map results decide who gets the call. We fix your profile, listings, reviews and location pages.
In short
Local SEO helps a business appear in Google's map results and in searches that include a place. Liftup audits your Google Business Profile, corrects name, address and phone details across listings, sets up a review routine, builds one useful page per location or service area, and reports calls, direction requests and clicks from your own profile and Search Console.
How local results are decided
Google describes three broad factors for local results: relevance, distance and prominence. Relevance is how well your profile matches the search. Distance is how far you are from the searcher or the place they named. Prominence is how well known you are, drawn from reviews, links, citations and general web presence.
You cannot move your building, so the work lives in relevance and prominence. That means the right categories, accurate details, real reviews and pages that match the way people search in your area. The broader ranking question is covered in our local SEO vs organic SEO comparison.
Storefront or service area: different rules
| Storefront (customers visit) | Service-area (you travel) | Several locations | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Address on profile | Shown | Hidden; list areas served | One profile per real location |
| Main page strategy | Home page plus a page per service | Page per service and per core town, only if genuinely different | One page per location with unique content |
| Biggest risk | Wrong categories | Doorway pages for dozens of towns | Duplicate pages, inconsistent names |
| Reviews to chase | Visit experience | Job quality and speed | Per location, so each profile has its own |
| Typical example | Clinic, restaurant, shop | Plumber, mobile groomer, cleaner | Dental group, retail chain |
Virtual offices and mailbox addresses are not eligible for a storefront profile, and listing one risks suspension. We check eligibility before anything else.
How we work
- Profile auditPrimary and secondary categories, services, attributes, hours, photos, description, products and the questions section. Many profiles are missing a category that matters.
- Consistency checkName, address and phone as they appear on your website, the profile and major directories. We fix mismatches at the source.
- Citations by countryWe use the sites that matter in your market, not a bulk list.
- Reviews routineA simple request after each completed job, a link that opens the review box, and replies to all reviews. We never gate reviews or offer rewards for them.
- Location and service pagesPages with real local detail: staff, photos, service times, directions, parking, local rules, genuine testimonials.
- Track and adjustCalls, direction requests, website clicks and map positions across a grid of search points.

Get a proposalDirectories that matter by market
Core profiles are the same everywhere: Google Business Profile, Bing Places and Apple Business Connect. After those, the useful directories differ by country.
| Market | Examples worth checking | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| USA | Yelp, industry directories, chamber of commerce | Check state licensing boards for regulated trades |
| UK | Yell, trade bodies, local chamber | Match the Companies House registered name where it applies |
| Ireland | Golden Pages, trade bodies | Use Eircode in the address |
| Australia | Yellow Pages, True Local, industry bodies | Include ABN on your site |
We confirm each directory is active and relevant before listing, because some have gone quiet.

Timeline and reporting
Profile and listing fixes take two to three weeks. Pages follow over the next month. Map positions can shift within weeks for less competitive searches and take several months in crowded cities, which are planning estimates not promises.
Each month you see calls, direction requests, messages and website clicks from your profile, plus impressions and clicks for local pages in Search Console. We note when Google changes how it counts.
