AI chatbots for construction
AI chatbots for construction companies
A building firm has three audiences asking questions all day: clients who want an update, subcontractors who want paperwork and new customers who want a price. One assistant can serve all three if each gets only the right information.

In short
An AI chatbot for a construction company answers common questions from clients, subcontractors and bid enquirers using your own documents, and keeps project data private to the right person. It collects scope details for new jobs, shares approved project updates and routes site issues to a project manager. Liftup Technologies builds it for your website or WhatsApp. Projects start at $1,500.
Three audiences, one inbox
Homeowners on a renovation ask when the plasterer arrives and why the kitchen is delayed. Subcontractors ask where to send invoices, what the site induction involves and how to submit a certificate. New customers ask whether you do extensions, what areas you cover and how to start. All of it lands on a project manager who should be on site.
Commercial contractors get a different mix: tender questions, prequalification forms, safety documentation and supplier onboarding. The same assistant pattern fits, but the knowledge it uses is different.
Seasonality shapes the load. Residential firms see a rush of enquiries in spring and after bad weather, while commercial firms see tender deadlines cluster. A bot that gathers a proper brief at any hour means your estimator starts each call with the facts already written down.
What we build
New enquiry intake
Asks project type, location, rough size, target start and budget band, then writes a clean brief for your estimator and books a site visit.
Client project updates
A logged-in homeowner asks where things stand and gets the latest approved update from your project tool, not a guess.
Subcontractor desk
Answers about site rules, induction, insurance document uploads, payment terms and invoice addresses from your supplier pack.
Site issue reporting
A worker describes a problem and attaches a photo. The bot logs it with time and location and notifies the project manager.
We connect to tools builders commonly use, for example Procore, Buildertrend, CoConstruct or a shared drive, only where they expose the data safely. Where they do not, updates are posted by your team into a simple status sheet the bot reads.
Who gets to see what
| Audience | Allowed to ask | Never shown | Handover to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Prospective client | Services, areas, process, how to get a quote | Other clients' details, internal costs | Estimator |
| Current client | Status, next visit, selections due, payment schedule | Margins, subcontractor rates | Project manager |
| Subcontractor | Site rules, documents needed, payment terms | Client contacts, contract values | Office manager |
| Site worker | Report an issue, find a procedure | Financial data | Site supervisor |
| Tender contact | Prequalification pack, safety policy, insurances | Bid pricing | Bid manager |
Access is the hard part in construction. A bot that mixes up two clients is worse than none, so private data needs a verified login and per-project permissions, which we design before we build.

Contractor licensing rules differ by state in the US and by region elsewhere, and many places expect a license or registration number on advertising and quotes. We put yours into the chat greeting and the quote summary. The bot gives no structural, legal or safety advice. A question about a wall that looks cracked goes to a person, and anything that sounds like an emergency tells the user to contact the proper emergency service and your site lead.
For safety content, the bot only quotes your approved procedures, such as induction notes, and links to the document. It does not replace toolbox talks or your safety officer. Check with your insurer or trade body on how chat records fit your documentation duties.
Project flow
- Pick the audienceMost firms start with new enquiries or subcontractors, as these involve the least private data.
- Gather documentsSupplier pack, service descriptions, FAQs, warranty terms.
- Permissions designWe decide who logs in how, and test that one client cannot see another.
- Build and field testA project manager and a subcontractor try to confuse it.
- Review each monthUnanswered questions show what documents are missing.

Price guidance
A public enquiry-intake chatbot can sit near our $1,500 minimum. A client project-update bot with logins and a connection to your project software is a bigger build, charged at $30 an hour and quoted as a fixed price within one working day of the call. What moves it most is how many audiences you serve and how much of your data is accessible by API. If the bot also needs a new site to sit on, see our website cost guide, and read the chatbot cost breakdown for the general drivers.
