AI chatbots for salons
AI chatbots for beauty salons
Salon clients message at night and while their hands are full. They send a photo of the style they want and ask if you can do it on Thursday. A chatbot can answer in minutes and move them to a booking.

In short
An AI chatbot for a beauty salon replies to messages on Instagram, WhatsApp and your website, answers questions about services, prices and aftercare, and books appointments in your booking software. It can read a photo the client sends and suggest the right service to book, with a stylist confirming the details. Liftup Technologies builds it with a fixed quote after a short call.
Where salon clients actually message
Many salons get most of their new enquiries through Instagram direct messages and WhatsApp, not through a booking page. People find a stylist's work on social media and send a message from there. Replies come late, because the person with the phone is behind a client. The enquiry goes cold in hours. A person choosing a colourist for a wedding or a big change is often messaging three salons at once, and the first one to answer with a useful reply usually gets the consultation. A reply the next morning is too late.
This page covers text and chat channels. If your clients mostly phone, see AI receptionist for beauty salons. The general method is on our AI chatbot development page.
Messages the chatbot handles
| Channel | Typical message | What the chatbot does | Hands to a person |
|---|---|---|---|
| Instagram DM | Photo of a hair colour with: can you do this? | Identifies the likely service (for example, a lighter colour or a cut), explains consultation and length, offers booking times | Stylist reviews the photo and confirms the price |
| Do you have anything on Saturday? | Reads open slots from your calendar and offers the nearest | Bridal or group bookings | |
| Website chat | How much is a haircut and colour? | Gives your price list, or a range, with a note that final price follows a consultation | Quote disputes |
| Any channel | I have a reaction after my service | Replies with care, shares the salon's contact and escalates at once | Owner, always |
| Any channel | How do I look after my colour? | Sends the aftercare note your stylists wrote | None |
| Any channel | Can I move my appointment? | Finds the booking and offers new times | Late changes inside your fee window |
Photos, inspiration and honesty
A language model can read a picture and describe it, but it cannot judge whether a stylist can reach that colour on that hair. We therefore keep the chatbot's role to naming the likely service, setting expectations and booking a consultation. A stylist looks at the photo before any price is agreed. That keeps clients from arriving with expectations the salon cannot meet, and it spares stylists the awkward conversation in the chair. The photo and the chat stay attached to the booking, so the stylist can read them before the client walks in.
- The bot never promises a result or a price for colour work.
- It asks the hair history questions your stylists need, such as recent colour or relaxers.
- It records patch-test status and asks the client to confirm allergies.
- It does not give advice on skin or scalp reactions.

Get my free quoteBusiness messaging rules
WhatsApp and Instagram have their own business messaging policies, including opt-in, message templates and limits on when you may start a conversation. Meta publishes the current rules, and they change, so we check them at build time and at each review. Clients who want reminders must agree to them. Marketing messages and appointment reminders are treated differently, and in some countries consent rules for marketing are strict. Please check with your adviser.
Your booking tool, such as Fresha, Booksy, Vagaro or Square Appointments, may expose an API or a booking link. We use whichever is available. A link in the chat that opens the right service pre-selected is a reliable starting point. It keeps the chatbot simple, and the booking tool still owns the calendar, the deposits and the reminders.

Price
Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour. A website and WhatsApp chatbot for one salon with a booking link is near the low end, and it is a sensible first release before you add Instagram. Instagram, photo handling, a calendar integration and several branches add hours. A fixed quote comes within one working day of a short call. Message fees on WhatsApp are charged by Meta and its partners and are separate. Our chatbot cost guide lists the drivers.
