In short

Liftup Technologies builds AI chatbots for Austrian companies, working remotely from India. The bot answers from your own documents, speaks German with the register you choose, tells users it is an AI and passes complex cases to your staff. A short call leads to a fixed quote, and you own the prompts, content and accounts.

Where chatbots earn their place in Austria

Good uses are narrow and repeatable: opening hours and prices for a clinic or hotel, delivery and returns for an online shop, product advice for a technical catalog, appointment requests for a service firm. Austrian businesses often receive the same ten questions by phone and email, and a chatbot can take a large share of them.

A weak use is a bot that tries to answer everything. We start by listing the questions you actually receive, then build for those and send the rest to a human.

Hotels and tourism firms see a different pattern. Guests ask about check-in times, parking, ski passes, restaurant hours and local events, often in English or Italian as well as German. A multilingual bot cuts the evening email backlog, and staff step in for bookings and complaints.

German quality and Austrian wording

Models are good at German, but customers notice when the tone is off. A bot for a Viennese law firm should be formal and exact. A bot for a Tyrolean mountain hotel may use a warmer, local style. We set the register with you, add a glossary of product names and local terms, and test with real customer messages.

These are examples of what we test. The real list comes from your own chat and email history.

Register matters as much as vocabulary. Banks, insurers and law firms expect Sie and complete sentences. Retail and lifestyle brands often use du. We write a one-page style guide for the bot so the tone stays the same across hundreds of answers.

How the bot is built

  1. Source contentWe collect your FAQ, product pages, price lists and policies, and decide what the bot may and may not say.
  2. Retrieval and rulesThe bot searches your content and answers only from it, with clear refusals when it does not know.
  3. Hand-offA button or message sends the conversation to email, a helpdesk or your phone line during office hours.
  4. TestingA written test set of real questions, so we measure answer quality before and after each change.

We use OpenAI and Anthropic (Claude) APIs, and connect the bot to your site, WhatsApp or a helpdesk. See the RAG chatbot service for how retrieval works, and the general AI chatbot development page.

What we need from you for this stage:

  • A list of the questions you receive, with the answers you want given.
  • Your FAQ, price lists and policy pages in editable form.
  • A named person who approves wording and reviews transcripts weekly in the first month.
  • Access to the helpdesk, calendar or CRM if the bot should connect to it.

Privacy and transparency

A chatbot collects personal data as soon as someone types a name or an order number. GDPR applies, with the Datenschutzbehörde as the Austrian authority, and your privacy policy must describe the bot, the provider and the retention period. The EU AI Act also sets transparency duties for systems that interact with people, so the bot should say it is an AI.

  • Show a short notice at the start of the chat and link the privacy policy.
  • Avoid sending data that is not needed to the model, for example full addresses.
  • Set a retention period for transcripts and a way to delete them.
  • Sign a data processing agreement with each provider, including us if we see transcripts.

Confirm the details with your lawyer or data protection officer. We implement what they decide.

If the bot also serves visitors in Germany or Switzerland, each market has its own authority and rules, and we list them in the data map.

Time zone and price

We work from Pune with no Austrian office. Vienna is 3.5 hours behind India in summer and 4.5 in winter, so a 10:00 call in Austria is 13:30 or 14:30 for us. Build and tuning run in weekly cycles.

Projects start at $1,500, with ongoing changes at $30 an hour. Model usage is billed by the provider to you. Use the chatbot cost calculator for a first estimate, or read the AI chatbot cost guide.

Running costs have two parts: hosting of the bot and model usage. We estimate both from your real chat volume before launch, so you know the monthly cost before you sign.

Questions, answered

Can the chatbot take bookings?
Yes, if it connects to your calendar or booking system. We usually start with collecting requests and let staff confirm, then automate confirmation later.
Will it work on WhatsApp?
Yes, through the WhatsApp Business platform. That needs an approved business account and has its own message costs, which we explain before you commit.
How do you stop wrong answers?
The bot answers only from approved content, refuses when unsure and hands over to a person. We test it against a written question set.
Where is chat data stored?
That depends on the providers chosen. We document each one, pick EU options where available and tell you what cannot stay in the EU.
Who owns the bot?
You do: the content, prompts, accounts and code. We hand them over at the end.
