In short

Liftup Technologies designs and builds websites for Austrian businesses, working remotely from India. A project covers page structure, design, German-language layout for de-AT, the Impressum and privacy pages, accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA and launch. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call, and you own the files and accounts.

Who needs a new website in Austria

Typical clients are a law or tax practice in Vienna, a hotel in Tyrol, a manufacturer in Upper Austria, a clinic in Graz or a service firm that sells across the DACH region. They share one problem: the current site is old, slow on mobile and does not make it easy to ask for an offer.

Austrian visitors tend to look for proof before contact: who runs the company, where it is registered, what the process is. A strong design puts those facts in view without turning the home page into a legal notice.

A second pattern is the international firm with an Austrian entity, such as a branch of a group that needs a local page set. That site should carry Austrian contact data, a local Impressum and wording that matches the group's brand without sounding translated.

What we deliver

  • A page map built around the questions customers ask, with one clear contact route on every page.
  • Responsive design in your brand, with German text laid out for long compound words that break narrow mobile columns.
  • Impressum, Datenschutzerklärung and cookie banner built into the layout, using your lawyer's text.
  • Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA: contrast, keyboard use, form labels and focus states.
  • Basic SEO: titles, headings, schema, sitemap and de-AT hreflang if you serve more than one market.
  • Training and handover, so your team can edit pages without calling us.

For the general service, see website design. If you already have a site that needs replacing, the better page is website redesign for Austria.

Images matter more than most owners expect. Real photos of the team, premises and work build more trust than stock photos, and Austrian visitors tend to notice the difference. We plan a photo list early, so a photographer can be booked before the design is final.

Designing for German text and Austrian users

Design pointWhy it matters in AustriaOur approach
Long wordsCompounds like Datenschutzerklärung overflow buttons and menusFlexible button widths and tested hyphenation
Formal addressSie is the default for B2B, du is common for consumer brandsOne tone chosen with you and applied everywhere
Number and date format1.250,00 € and 03.11.2026Locale formatting in forms and tables
Phone and address+43 numbers, PLZ before the townForm fields shaped for Austrian addresses
Trust elementsFirmenbuchnummer, UID, chamber membership where relevantA tidy company block in the footer and Impressum

Legal wording stays with your lawyer. We make sure the page, the footer link and the structure are in place.

Forms deserve the same care. Fields for Anrede, Titel and Firma are common in Austria, and academic titles such as Mag. or Dr. are often expected in business contacts. We include optional fields for these and keep the form short so more people finish it.

Accessibility from 28 June 2025

Austria implements the European Accessibility Act through the Barrierefreiheitsgesetz (BaFG), which applies from 28 June 2025 to many consumer-facing services, including online shops. Microenterprises that provide services have an exemption, but not every small firm qualifies, so ask your lawyer which group you are in.

We build to WCAG 2.2 AA in any case. It improves usability for everyone, and it is a safer base than fixing issues later. Our WCAG checklist shows what we test.

An accessibility statement page is also useful. It describes what is accessible, known gaps and how to report a problem, and it shows that you take the topic seriously.

Project flow and time zone

A typical site takes a few weeks from approved scope, depending on how quickly text and images arrive. Calls are held in Vienna mornings, which are early afternoon for our team: 10:00 in Austria is 13:30 in summer and 14:30 in winter in India. A weekly demo shows progress on a staging link, and one lead handles all messages.

Pricing starts at $1,500 per project, with additional work at $30 an hour. The number of pages, custom features and languages decide the quote. Read the website cost guide for typical ranges.

  1. Scope and quoteA short call, a page list and a fixed quote within one working day.
  2. DesignHome page and one inner page first, then the rest of the templates after your feedback.
  3. Build and reviewWeekly demos on a staging link, with your German text and legal pages added as they arrive.
  4. LaunchRedirects from old URLs, consent banner, analytics and Search Console set up, then handover.

Questions, answered

How long does a company website take?
Most take several weeks. The biggest delay is usually waiting for final German text, photos and the legal pages, so we agree deadlines for those at the start.
Can you write the German text?
We can structure and edit copy. For final Austrian wording and legal text we recommend a native writer or your lawyer, and we build the layout around it.
Which platform will you use?
WordPress, Webflow, Shopify or Next.js, depending on who edits the site and how complex it is. We explain the choice before the quote.
Is a .at domain required?
No, but it signals an Austrian business. Domain registration goes through nic.at accredited registrars, and the domain is registered in your name.
Do you maintain the site after launch?
Yes, on request at $30 an hour or as a small monthly arrangement. Our maintenance checklist lists what we cover.
Will the site work well on mobile?
Yes. Mobile is the main design target. We test on common iPhone and Android sizes and check load speed with Core Web Vitals before launch.
