AI agents for fintech
AI agents for fintech companies with audit trails, not black boxes
Fintech support, onboarding and operations teams handle high volumes of documents and disputes under strict rules. We build agents that prepare the work and record every step, while decisions that affect a customer's money stay with people.

In short
A fintech AI agent triages support tickets, checks onboarding documents for completeness, assembles dispute and chargeback evidence, and drafts compliance notes. Liftup Technologies builds these agents with full audit logs, role-based access and human approval on any step that affects funds, credit or account status. We do not build agents that make lending, fraud-blocking or sanctions decisions alone.
What regulated teams actually need
A payments startup, a lending platform or a wealth app has two kinds of work. One is customer-facing: where is my transfer, why was my card declined, how do I change my limit. The other is back-office: onboarding documents, dispute packets, reconciliation breaks and regulator-ready records. Both pile up faster than a compliance-minded team can hire.
The fintech question is rarely whether a model can do the task. It is whether you can show an examiner or auditor what the system did, why, who approved it and what data it saw. Our design starts there.
Controls we build in
| Control | What it means in the build | Why a regulator or partner bank cares |
|---|---|---|
| Action log | Every read, draft and action stored with time, inputs, output and approver | Evidence for audits and complaints handling |
| Permission ladder | Read, draft, act with approval, act within limits, set per tool | Limits the blast radius of a mistake |
| Data minimization | Account tokens instead of full numbers, masked fields in prompts | Reduces exposure of personal and payment data |
| Model change control | Pinned model versions, regression test set before any switch | Behavior must not change silently |
| Human sign-off | Required for refunds, limit changes, account closure and any adverse action | Keeps accountable decisions with accountable staff |
| Data residency | Hosting region chosen per your obligations | Some regimes restrict where customer data goes |
Your compliance lead should review this list against the rules that apply to your licence. We provide the documentation, not the legal opinion.
Four starting points
- Support triage and answer drafting: reads the ticket, pulls the transaction record through a read-only tool, drafts a reply with the reason code explained in plain language. Staff approve until the edit rate is low.
- Onboarding document triage: checks an ID, proof of address and company papers for legibility, expiry and name matches, then lists what is missing. The identity decision stays with your KYC team or provider.
- Dispute evidence packets: gathers the order, delivery proof, communication history and policy text into the format your processor asks for. Stripe-style processors publish their own evidence requirements, and the agent follows them.
- Reconciliation notes: explains unmatched ledger lines by suggesting likely causes, such as timing or fees, for an analyst to confirm.
What we decline: automated credit scoring, automated fraud blocks, sanctions screening decisions and anything that gives personalized investment advice. These need validation, fairness testing and governance well beyond an agent project.

Get my free quoteRules in the background
Fintechs sit under a mix of rules that differ by licence and country: payment and e-money licensing, anti-money-laundering duties, consumer-credit and disclosure rules, and data protection such as GDPR, UK GDPR, the CCPA or the Australian Privacy Act. In the US the FTC publishes guidance on safeguarding customer information for non-bank financial firms. UK firms should also read the ICO's guidance on automated decision-making. Customer-facing messages may count as regulated communications, so approve templates with your compliance team.
Be careful about promises as well. An agent that says a transfer will arrive tomorrow creates an expectation; we limit it to quoting the stated service level and the live status.
Engagement and price
We usually run a four to six week pilot on one queue, such as card disputes or onboarding checks, using anonymized or synthetic data first. Security review notes come with the deliverables: data-flow diagram, tool permissions, test results and a failure runbook. See our AI agent security checklist for the controls we apply.
Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour. A narrow read-and-draft agent is at the lower end; cost rises with integrations, the evidence your partner bank asks for and the length of the supervised run. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call. Learn more about our approach on AI agent development, or read what an AI agent costs.
