AI chatbot for cafes
AI chatbot for cafes and coffee shops
A cafe owner answers messages between shots, with a queue at the till. A chatbot can field the repeat questions on Instagram, WhatsApp and your site so the person at the machine can keep their eyes on the line.

In short
Liftup Technologies builds AI chatbots for cafes that answer questions about hours, menu, dietary options, parking and dogs, take group and catering enquiries, and sell gift cards by pointing to your till or shop. Allergen questions are always sent to the staff and your official allergen information, never answered from guesswork. Projects start at $1,500, with a fixed quote after a short call.
What cafe customers ask before they visit
People check a cafe on their phone before they leave the house. They look for opening hours, whether there is oat milk, if you have a high chair, if a table for eight is possible, and whether you are open on the holiday. Google Business Profile answers some of this, but only if it is up to date, and messages on Instagram and WhatsApp still arrive during the rush.
Few cafes can staff a message desk. A small chatbot can reply at once, correctly, with your own wording, at any hour including the late evening when a customer plans tomorrow's meeting.
This page applies our AI chatbot development service to small food venues. A cafe needs far less than a hotel or a large restaurant group, so the build stays small and the answers stay in your own voice.
Common questions and what the bot does
| Question | Bot answer | Goes to staff when |
|---|---|---|
| Are you open today? Until when? | Reads your hours, including holiday changes you set | Never; but you must keep the hours list current |
| Do you have vegan, gluten-free or dairy-free options? | Lists items marked with those labels on your menu, with the date the menu was reviewed | Always for allergies: it shares your allergen information and asks the customer to confirm with staff |
| Can I book a table for 10? | Collects date, time, group size and contact, then sends to you for confirmation | You decide whether to accept |
| Do you do catering or office orders? | Asks headcount, date, location and dietary needs; shows your catering menu | Always, to quote the price |
| Is the cafe dog-friendly or step-free? | Answers from your facts page | Customer has a specific access need |
| Where can I buy a gift card? | Links to your gift card page or explains how to buy at the till | Gift card problem or refund |
Allergens deserve their own rule. A bot that says a dish is safe for a nut allergy can cause real harm. Our design never gives that assurance.
What we build
- A chat widget for your website and a reply helper for Instagram and WhatsApp business messages, built on the same answer library.
- A short facts file you control: hours, address, menu, dietary labels, policies on dogs, prams and laptops, and local parking tips.
- A booking and catering enquiry form that the bot fills through conversation and emails to you or posts to a shared channel.
- Connections to point-of-sale or ordering tools such as Square, Toast or Lightspeed where an API makes it practical, for example to show items that are sold out today.
- A monthly summary of the top questions, which often shows which hours or menu details are unclear on your site.

Get my free quoteFood rules to respect
Food businesses have legal duties around allergen information. In the UK, rules require allergen information for food sold, and in the US the FDA sets labeling rules for packaged food while states and local health departments set rules for restaurants. Rules differ by country and state, so check with your local authority. Government business guidance, such as SBA resources in the US and GOV.UK business pages in the UK, is a good starting point.
Our practical rule is simple. The bot shares only the allergen information you wrote and approved, labels its date, and invites the customer to speak to a team member before ordering. It never says a menu item is free of an allergen unless your approved list states it, and even then it recommends confirming in person.
How the project runs
- Collect your factsWe send a one-page form: hours, menu, policies and the questions you answer most.
- Build and testWe test with real messages from your Instagram inbox, including the odd ones.
- Go live on one channelUsually the website first, then Instagram or WhatsApp once the answers look right.
- Monthly checkYou review unanswered questions and add them to the facts file in minutes.
We work from Pune and book short calls outside your rush hours, wherever you are in the US, UK, Australia or Ireland.
Price
Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour. A single-site cafe with a website bot and one messaging channel sits near the base. Several locations, ordering integrations or a custom menu feed add scope. The AI chatbot cost page lists the factors. If you also want a better site first, look at our restaurant chatbots page for larger venues. We quote a fixed price after a short call.
