Local SEO for dentists

Local SEO for dental clinics

Patients choose a dentist from the map. They look at distance, stars, whether you take their plan and whether you can see them this week. Local SEO makes sure the answer is visible before they call.

In short

Local SEO for dental clinics improves how a practice appears in Google's map results and local searches such as emergency dentist, dentist accepting new patients and dentist near me. It covers the Google Business Profile, service and insurance pages, dentist profile pages, a review routine and clean listings. Liftup Technologies audits the practice, fixes what is wrong and gives a fixed quote after a short call.

How people pick a dentist

Dental choices are local and often urgent. A patient with a broken tooth searches from their phone and calls the first reasonable result that is open. A family moving to a new area searches for a practice that is accepting new patients and takes their plan. Both want facts quickly: hours, address, plans, price signals and photos of the office. Nervous patients also look for signs of a gentle practice, such as mentions of anxious patients in reviews and a friendly team photo, so the profile and site should show real people rather than stock images.

Our general approach is described on the local SEO services page. This page is about dental practices specifically. If you also miss calls during treatment, see our page on an AI receptionist for dental clinics.

Setting up the Google Business Profile for a dental practice

The profile is often the first thing a patient sees. Most of the fields matter, and most practices leave several empty.

Pages that bring in patients

  • Insurance and payment: which plans you work with, how to pay without insurance, and what to bring. This page answers many searches that start with a plan name.
  • Emergency dentist: what counts as urgent, your hours, how to reach you after hours, and a phone link that works on mobile.
  • Treatment pages: one per major service, written in plain language, with who it is for and how long it takes. Avoid before-and-after claims you cannot support.
  • Dentist profiles: name, registration number where your regulator requires it, qualifications and a real photo.
  • Location page with parking, transit and an embedded map.

In the UK, the General Dental Council sets standards for the information dentists must publish, and in the US the ADA publishes advertising principles. Check with your regulator or professional body before publishing claims or price promotions.

Reviews, privacy and the front desk

Patients leave reviews often when asked at the right time, such as after a visit with a hygienist or after an emergency fix. Send a text with a direct link. Do not offer a discount in return, because Google prohibits incentives. Replies should never confirm anything about the patient's care. In the US, HIPAA covers what a practice may disclose, and online replies are a common way to breach it by accident. Keep replies generic and invite the person to call.

Make sure the phone number on the profile is answered. A call that rings out is a lost patient, and the profile will not help with that. Cover the line at lunch, or add a voicemail that sends a booking link by text.

Price

Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. A single practice with a working site is near the low end for audit and setup. Multiple dentists with separate profiles, several sites or a site rebuild add hours. The fixed quote arrives within one working day of a short call. Our local SEO cost guide explains the ongoing side.

Questions, answered

Can each dentist have a Google profile?
Sometimes. Google's guidelines allow separate profiles for public-facing practitioners in some cases. We check the guidelines and your setup before creating any.
Should we add keywords to our business name?
No. The name must match your real signage, and keyword stuffing can lead to suspension.
Do before-and-after photos help?
They can, but advertising rules for results differ by region and need care. Check with your regulator.
How do we handle a bad review from a patient?
Reply briefly without any detail of treatment, offer to talk by phone, and flag fake or abusive reviews to Google.
Does Local SEO help with new-patient numbers?
It makes your practice visible when patients search nearby. We report calls and direction requests from your profile so you can see what changes.
