Hotel website cost

How much does a hotel website cost?

For a hotel, the website build is often the smaller bill. The booking engine, channel manager and photography are where budgets move. Here is what to price, and what to ask.

In short

A hotel website has two cost layers: the design and build of the site itself, and the booking tools that sit behind it. A small B&B can launch for a modest project, while a boutique hotel with a booking engine, several languages and professional photography costs more. Liftup Technologies starts at $1,500 with a $30 hourly rate, and gives a fixed quote within one working day.

Separate the website from the booking tools

Most hotel owners ask one question, but there are two. The first is the website: rooms, rates pages, the offer, photos and location. The second is the booking engine, which takes dates, shows availability and takes payment. The engine is usually a separate product with its own fee.

Ask every vendor to price these apart. A quote that bundles a site with a locked-in booking engine can make it hard to change either later.

Scope levels

Type of propertyWhat the site needsMain cost drivers
B&B or guest houseHome, rooms, rates, gallery, local area, contact, booking widget linkPhotography; the booking widget fee
Boutique hotelRoom pages with galleries, offers, dining, events, a booking engine link, a blog or guideRoom count, offers, restaurant integration
Small group of hotelsA page set per property, a shared design and a location chooserNumber of properties, content per hotel, multilingual versions
Resort or large hotelMeeting and wedding enquiries, spa, activities, loyalty contentMany enquiry forms, integrations, search and filters

At $30 an hour, a project of 50 hours is $1,500. A boutique hotel site often takes more. Your fixed quote sets the number after we count rooms, languages and integrations.

Where hotel budgets leak

  • Photography. Hotels sell on images. Professional photos of rooms, dining and the neighbourhood are often the best spend. Stock photos hurt trust.
  • Booking engine fees. Engines charge a monthly fee, a commission on bookings or both. Compare against the commission you already pay online travel agencies.
  • Channel manager. If you sell through several platforms, a channel manager keeps rates and availability in sync. It has its own price.
  • Translations. Each language is a separate page set. Machine translation without a native review can mislead guests.
  • Payments and security. Card payments must meet industry security rules. Using a hosted payment page from your engine keeps this simple.
  • Content refresh. Seasonal offers, events and room changes need regular edits.

A useful test of any quote is to ask which line items would drop out if the budget were cut by a third. A good vendor can answer in a minute. Photography and extra languages are the usual first to move; the booking path and mobile speed should stay.

Yearly and recurring costs

Plan for domain renewal, hosting, security updates and a small maintenance plan. Add the booking engine and channel manager fees. If you also want guests to find you on Google Maps, budget for local search work. Our hotel SEO guide and hotel website design page cover that side.

Our maintenance checklist lists what a yearly plan should include.

Direct bookings and what the site must do

A hotel site earns back its cost when guests book direct. That depends on trust and clarity: real photos, a clear price for the dates, cancellation terms visible before checkout, and a booking path that works on a phone. A slow site loses bookings to the comparison platforms.

We avoid inventing figures for how much you will save. The honest approach is to track direct bookings before and after launch and compare them with your commission costs. We set up analytics and booking events so you can do that.

Seasonality matters for the build date. A hotel that depends on summer trade wants the new site live and tested by early spring, with rates loaded and the booking path checked before the first enquiries arrive.

How to compare quotes

  1. Ask what is includedCount room pages, languages, galleries and forms.
  2. Ask about the booking engineWho provides it, what it costs, and whether you can change it later.
  3. Check ownershipDomain, hosting and files should be in your name.
  4. Ask about speedLarge images can slow a site if they are not handled well.
  5. Ask for a timelineHotels have peak seasons. Launch before them, not during.

Questions, answered

Does the website price include the booking engine?
Usually not. We link to or embed the engine you choose. Its fees are separate and paid to the provider.
Do I need a channel manager?
Only if you sell through several platforms and need rates and availability to stay in sync. A very small property with one channel may not.
Can the site support several languages?
Yes. Each language adds page work. We recommend native review of translated text.
Who owns the photos?
The photographer owns the images unless the contract says otherwise. Agree usage rights in writing before the shoot.
How long does a hotel site take?
A small property often takes five to eight weeks once photos and text are ready. Larger sites take longer, and we give a date after the call.
