In short

Liftup Technologies builds AI agents for German businesses, working remotely from India. An agent is software that uses a language model to decide steps and call tools such as your CRM, calendar, email or database. We design narrow tasks, permission limits, human approval gates, audit logs and German-language tests, and we address DSGVO, AI Act transparency and works council questions. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

What an agent does that a chatbot does not

A chatbot answers questions. An agent also acts: it looks up an order, checks stock, drafts a reply, books a slot or updates a record, and may repeat several steps to reach a goal. That power is why scope matters. A well-built agent has a short list of tools, clear limits on each and a rule for when to stop and ask a person. Our comparison of an AI agent versus a chatbot explains when each fits.

Good first agents for German firms handle repetitive, rule-based work with some variety: qualifying enquiries and booking meetings, preparing quotes from templates, checking supplier invoices against orders, or answering internal questions from handbooks and policies.

Agents also differ from classic automation flows. A fixed workflow follows the same steps every time, while an agent chooses its next step from the situation. That flexibility suits messy inputs such as free-text emails, but it needs tighter guardrails, so for plain rule-based steps we often recommend a workflow, as described on our Germany AI automation page, and use an agent only for the parts that need judgment.

Legal and compliance points

An agent that handles personal data needs a lawful basis, an entry in your record of processing, and an Article 28 agreement with each provider that processes data for you. Because India has no EU adequacy decision, access from our side is covered by the contract terms you sign and the transfer mechanisms your adviser selects, and we design so that live personal data can stay on EU-hosted systems where you require it.

The EU AI Act sets transparency duties: people who talk to an AI system should be told so, unless it is obvious. Some uses, such as decisions about hiring or credit, fall into higher-risk categories with stricter rules, and we flag those early rather than build into them casually. Article 22 of the GDPR also limits fully automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, so decisions about people should keep a human in the loop.

If an agent could monitor staff behavior or performance, a works council (Betriebsrat) normally has co-determination rights. Raise this with your HR and legal contacts before a pilot. Our AI agent security checklist covers prompt injection, tool permissions and secrets handling, which matter as much as the legal side.

Testing and rollout

  1. Define the taskOne job, a success measure and a list of cases where the agent must hand over.
  2. Build with test dataRun against copies of your systems with anonymized records.
  3. Evaluate in GermanScore answers on a set of real German examples, including messy ones, and fix failures.
  4. Pilot with approvalA small team reviews every action for several weeks.
  5. Widen carefullyAllow unattended steps only where error rates have stayed low.

We keep a written evaluation set so that a later model update or prompt change can be tested against the same cases. Cost per task, response time and error types are reported to you.

After launch, we review a sample of agent runs every week at first, then monthly. Reviewers mark errors, and the evaluation set grows with every real failure. Prompts, model versions and tool permissions are changed only through a written change note, so you can always see what was running on a given day.

Working together and price

India is 4.5 hours ahead of Germany in winter and 3.5 hours ahead in summer, so reviews take place in your morning. Projects start at $1,500 and the rate is $30 an hour. Number of tools, data sources, languages and approval steps move the price. See the AI agent cost guide, the AI vendor evaluation checklist and the AI agent development service page. Questions, answered

Can an agent send emails on its own?
It can, but we recommend drafts with approval at first. Unattended sending is allowed only for narrow, low-risk message types after a trial period.
Where does the data go?
That depends on the model and hosting you choose. We document each flow and can use EU-hosted options when required.
Does the AI Act apply to our agent?
Likely at least the transparency duties. Higher-risk uses have more rules. Your adviser should confirm the category, and we flag candidates early.
What if the agent makes a mistake?
Actions are logged, risky steps need approval, and we build undo or review routes where possible. We also set limits on amounts and recipients.
Who owns the agent?
You do. Code, prompts, evaluation sets and accounts are handed over at the end.
