In short

Liftup Technologies builds AI-assisted workflow automation for German businesses, working remotely from India. We connect email, forms, CRM, accounting and spreadsheets with n8n, Make, Zapier or custom code, and add OpenAI or Anthropic models where reading or writing text is needed. DSGVO limits, EU hosting options and human approval steps are part of the design. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

Where automation pays off in a German firm

German companies often run on well-defined paper-like processes: an invoice arrives as a PDF, a delivery note is checked against an order, an enquiry is forwarded to a department. These are good automation candidates because the rules are known. AI helps where the input is messy, such as a PDF with a new layout or an email that mixes three requests, and plain automation handles the rest.

  • Incoming invoices read into your accounting tool, with exceptions sent to a person.
  • Contact-form and email enquiries sorted, summarized and routed to the right department.
  • Order confirmations, shipping updates and reminders sent from your shop or ERP data.
  • Weekly reports assembled from several sources instead of copied by hand.

Start with the process that wastes the most hours and has the clearest rules. Count how many times a month it runs, how long one run takes by hand and how often it goes wrong. Those three numbers show whether automation pays back within a few months, and our ROI calculator turns them into a rough estimate. A process that runs twice a year rarely justifies the build, while one that runs fifty times a day almost always does.

Choosing the tool

ToolStrengthConsideration for German firms
n8nFlexible, can be self-hosted on a server you chooseSelf-hosting in a German or EU data center keeps workflow data under your control
MakeFast to build, many app connectorsCheck the data region and the provider's processing terms
ZapierSimple, large app libraryGood for light flows; check terms before sending personal data
Custom codeFull control over logic and storageHigher build cost, easier to fit unusual systems

Our comparisons of n8n vs Make and n8n vs Zapier go deeper. For a typical German project we lean toward n8n when data location matters and toward Make or Zapier when speed and low maintenance matter more.

Privacy, approvals and the works council

Every automation that touches personal data needs a lawful basis, a place in your record of processing activities and, for any provider that processes data for you, an Article 28 agreement. We document each flow on one page: trigger, data fields, systems, providers, retention and the person who approves exceptions. That page goes to your Datenschutzbeauftragter. Companies with a certain number of staff handling personal data are required to appoint one; ask your adviser whether that applies to you.

Internal automation can raise co-determination questions. If a workflow could monitor employee performance or behavior, a works council (Betriebsrat) usually has to be involved, and bringing it in at the design stage is far easier than after a rollout. Customer-facing and back-office document flows rarely touch this, but we ask the question in the first call.

Language matters too. Staff and customers write in German, English and sometimes a mix, so we test every flow with real examples of your own messages, including dialect-tinged phrases, abbreviations and typical typos. Outputs that go to customers should read in the formal Sie unless your brand uses du, and drafts should be approved by a person until the error rate has been low for a sustained period.

Keeping personal data away from models

Not every step needs an AI model to see names and addresses. We can extract the fields first, replace identifiers with placeholders, send only the text that needs interpretation and put the data back afterwards. For high-risk content such as health or HR data we recommend a narrower scope or an EU-hosted model option, and we say so plainly instead of promising more than the setup allows. The AI readiness checklist helps you decide what is ready to automate.

We also keep a log of every automated decision with the input, the output and the reviewer, so that you can answer a question from a customer, an auditor or a data subject without digging through old inboxes. Logs follow a retention period you set, and they are deleted on schedule.

How a project runs and what it costs

We map one process end to end, build it on a test copy of your tools, run it beside the manual process for a few weeks and switch over once the error rate is acceptable. Alerts go to a named person when a step fails. India is 4.5 hours ahead of Germany in winter and 3.5 hours ahead in summer, so check-ins fall in your morning.

Projects start at $1,500 at $30 an hour. The number of systems, document variety, volume and approval steps move the price. See the AI automation cost guide, the ROI calculator and the AI automation service page.

Questions, answered

Can you connect to DATEV, SAP or our ERP?
Often yes, through an API, a file export or a connector, depending on the version and your licence. We check what is available during scoping and tell you if a connector costs extra.
Where do the workflows run?
On a server you choose where possible, including one in Germany, or on the vendor's cloud. We explain the data location of each option.
What happens when the AI is unsure?
The item goes to a person with the reasons attached. We set confidence rules and amount limits so unclear cases are never auto-approved.
Do we need to inform employees?
If a workflow processes staff data or changes their work, yes, and a works council may have a say. We prepare plain-language descriptions for those conversations.
Who owns the workflows?
You do. Accounts and exports are in your company's name, with documentation at handover.
