AI agents for construction
AI agents for construction companies drowning in paperwork
A building project produces thousands of documents, and the answer to most site questions is already in one of them. We build agents that read, sort and cross-check that paperwork so project managers spend less time hunting.

In short
A construction AI agent reads project documents such as RFIs, submittals, drawings lists, subcontractor certificates and daily logs, then sorts them, checks them against requirements and drafts the next step for a project manager to approve. Liftup Technologies builds these agents around the tools you already use. The agent prepares paperwork; engineers, superintendents and PMs make the calls.
A paperwork business that happens to build things
Contractors lose margin in the gaps between documents. A subcontractor's insurance certificate lapses and nobody notices until an audit. An RFI sits unanswered for nine days because it was emailed to the wrong person. A change in scope is agreed on site, never written up, and becomes a dispute at final account. Daily logs get filled in on Friday from memory.
None of these needs a design decision. They need someone to read, compare and chase. That is what we ask the agent to do.
Documents an agent can handle
| Document | What the agent checks or drafts | Who approves |
|---|---|---|
| Subcontractor insurance and licences | Reads expiry dates, flags those within 30 days, emails the sub for a renewal | Contracts manager |
| RFIs | Routes by discipline, finds related drawings and spec sections, drafts a response outline | Project manager and design team |
| Submittals | Compares the submitted product data with the spec section and lists mismatches | Engineer or architect |
| Daily logs | Turns site voice notes and photos into a structured log | Superintendent |
| Change orders | Collects the cost items and the instruction that triggered them, drafts the document | Project manager and client |
| Bid invitations | Sorts incoming invitations by trade and location, builds a go or no-go summary | Estimator |
Agents here read drawings poorly, and we say so. We use them on text, schedules, forms and photos with notes, and keep structural, safety and cost decisions with qualified people.
Where it plugs in
Contractors typically run project software such as Procore, Buildertrend or Autodesk Construction Cloud, plus accounting software, email and shared drives. We work through the available APIs and email rules. If your team runs on spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups, we can still start: a mailbox and a shared folder are enough to build a useful first agent.
Site conditions matter. Connectivity can be poor, so any field-facing piece, such as dictating a log, queues work and syncs later. Workers should not need a new app; we favor the channel they already use, usually a message or email. Phone answering for a site office or a busy estimator is a separate job, covered on our page for AI voice agents for construction. For rough pricing before a call, see what an AI agent costs.

- Safety-critical content stays with people. The agent may remind a superintendent that a toolbox talk is due. It does not decide whether a trench is safe or issue method statements.
- Records matter in disputes. Every agent action, source document and approval is logged with a time stamp, which helps when you need to show who was told what.
- Contract terms differ by country and form of contract. The agent drafts to your templates and flags unusual clauses, but your lawyer or contract administrator decides what is binding.
- Worker and subcontractor data falls under GDPR in the UK and Ireland, the Privacy Act in Australia and state privacy laws in the US. We keep personal data minimal and stored where you choose.
Starting small and what it costs
We suggest one project or one document type first. Subcontractor compliance tracking is a common start, because the rule is simple, the data is dated and the cost of a miss is clear. Estimating-side tasks, such as sorting bid invitations, come second. Seasonal swings, such as a spring surge in tenders, make it worth testing before the busy months, not during them.
Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour. A single-document-type agent is at the small end. The price grows with the number of project systems, the messiness of the documents and the length of the supervised run. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call. Our AI document processing page covers the extraction side, and AI agent development covers the agent layer.
