AI agents for SaaS
AI agents for SaaS companies: support, onboarding and churn signals
SaaS support is mostly the same fifty questions asked by different accounts, and onboarding is mostly the same twelve steps. An agent with read access to your product data can do much of both, and tell customer success which accounts are drifting.

In short
A SaaS AI agent connects to your helpdesk, docs, billing system and product database to answer account-specific support questions, guide new users through setup, flag accounts whose usage is falling and draft documentation updates. Liftup Technologies builds these agents with strict tenant isolation, read-only access by default and human approval for billing or data changes. It answers using your product's real state, not a generic knowledge base.
Why a docs chatbot is not enough
Many SaaS companies already have a chatbot trained on their help center. It answers how-to questions and fails the questions customers really ask: why did my import fail, why is my invoice higher this month, why can't my teammate see this project. Those answers need the account's data, the logs and the plan limits.
An agent can look. With scoped, read-only access it checks the import job, sees the error, finds the matching doc and replies with the specific fix. With a second permission level it can retry the job or reset a setting, but only if you allow that action for that plan.
Two places an agent lives: in the product and behind it
| Where | Example | Permission level | Main risk to design for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Support desk | Looks up the customer, reads the error log, drafts the reply | Read, then draft | Showing one customer another's data |
| In-product helper | Guides setup, answers what does this setting do, opens the right page | Read plus navigation | Wrong guidance causing a bad configuration |
| Customer success | Weekly list of accounts with falling logins, unused seats or failed payments, with suggested outreach | Read only | Misreading seasonal usage as churn |
| Billing support | Explains invoices and proration; prepares credits for approval | Act with approval | Unauthorized refunds |
| Docs maintenance | Compares release notes with docs, drafts updates | Draft | Documenting features that changed |
| Engineering triage | Groups bug reports, finds duplicates, links logs | Read, draft tickets | Mislabeling severity |
Tenant isolation is the headline risk. A bug that mixes accounts is a data breach. We design so the agent receives only one account's data per request and cannot query across accounts.
Security and trust questions your customers will ask
- Where does customer data go? Model calls send the minimum fields. We can use providers that offer zero-retention terms and keep logs in your own region.
- Does the model learn from our data? Not under the provider terms we select, and we document it for enterprise security reviews.
- Prompt injection: support tickets and uploaded files can contain hostile text. Customer content is treated as untrusted, and the agent cannot change its own permissions or call tools not on its list. Our AI agent security checklist lists the controls.
- Compliance: if you hold or seek SOC 2 or ISO 27001, the agent's access, logging and change control become evidence items. Involve your auditor early. GDPR and UK GDPR obligations on processors and sub-processors apply, so update your sub-processor list when you add a model provider.
Enterprise buyers increasingly ask about AI use in questionnaires. We supply a short data-flow description you can reuse.

Typical connections include helpdesks such as Zendesk or Intercom, billing through Stripe, product analytics, your own database through a read replica and a docs site. Where possible we use the vendor's official APIs and a dedicated service account. Direct database access goes through a read-only replica with row-level restrictions.
If you are still building the product, we also do SaaS development, and for the discoverability of your software, SaaS SEO is a separate service. Voice support is available through AI voice agents for SaaS companies.
Measure it like a feature
We agree four measures before building: share of tickets resolved without a human, customer satisfaction on resolved tickets, time to first useful answer and the rate of wrong or unsafe answers found in review. We build a test set from 100 past tickets and keep it as a regression suite for every model or prompt change. A deflection rate alone can hide harm, so we sample resolved tickets weekly.
Projects start at $1,500 at $30 an hour, with a fixed quote within one working day of a short call. A support-lookup agent on one helpdesk and one data source is a modest project, while multi-product tenancy, in-product placement and compliance evidence add hours.
