AI agents for salons

AI agents for beauty salons and spas

A salon agent answers Instagram and WhatsApp messages at 9 pm, works out how long a balayage or lash set really takes, books the right chair and sends the deposit link. Your team keeps the scissors and the consultations.

In short

Liftup Technologies builds AI agents for salons that handle the booking side: reading a message, matching it to a service and a stylist, checking real availability, taking a deposit and sending reminders. Anything unusual, such as a colour correction or a complaint, goes to a person with the chat attached. We work remotely from Pune and give a fixed quote after a short call.

Where a salon loses chair time

Most salon bookings are decided in a few minutes. A client sees a photo, sends a message and books with whoever answers first. Stylists have their hands in someone's hair, so replies wait until the lunch break. By then the client has booked elsewhere.

The second leak is the no-show and the late cancellation. A two-hour colour appointment that cancels on the morning cannot be refilled. The third is the booking made for the wrong length: a client asks for a cut, turns up wanting highlights, and the whole afternoon slips by forty minutes.

An agent does not fix a bad schedule. It removes the waiting, asks the questions that stop wrong-length bookings and holds a deposit so empty chairs cost less.

What we build for a salon

  • A message agent for Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, SMS and your website chat, with your menu, prices and stylist specialities loaded in.
  • A service-length check. The agent asks about hair length, current colour and the result the client wants, then picks the slot length you set for that answer.
  • Booking through your existing software where it offers an API or calendar feed. Examples are Fresha, Vagaro, Square Appointments, Booksy and Mindbody. We confirm what yours exposes before quoting.
  • Deposit links through Stripe or your payment provider, with the cancellation terms shown before the client pays.
  • Reminder and rebooking messages timed to your usual cycle, for example a six-week prompt after a cut.
  • A hand-off screen that gives the stylist the chat, the client's history and the agent's reason for escalating.

Rules a salon should check

Patch tests before colour services are a safety matter. The agent can ask whether a patch test is on file and block the booking until your rule is met, but your insurer and professional body set the standard. Check with them.

Reminder texts and promotional messages need consent. In the US that touches the Telephone Consumer Protection Act rules from the FCC. In the UK and Ireland, marketing messages fall under privacy and electronic communications rules. We keep a consent field on each client record and keep reminders separate from promotions.

A cancellation fee should be stated before payment, in plain words. We show your terms inside the deposit step. Check with your lawyer if you are unsure how your terms read.

How the project runs

  1. Menu and rules callA short call to list services, lengths, stylist skills, deposit rules and the questions you ask new clients.
  2. Build on test dataWe build the agent against a copy of your calendar and test it with real past messages you share, names removed.
  3. Shadow weekThe agent drafts replies and a person sends them. You see where it misreads a request.
  4. Live with limitsIt books alone for simple services. Anything above your price or length limit goes to the front desk.

Calls are booked in your working hours, whether you are in Leeds, Sydney, Dublin or Austin. The agent's log shows every message it read and every booking it made, so the owner can audit it.

Price and timing

Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour, with a fixed quote within one working day of the first call. A single-location agent that books through one calendar sits near the low end. The price moves with the number of channels, whether your booking software has an API, how many stylists and rooms need separate rules, and multi-site support.

Model usage and message fees are separate monthly items, and we list them in the quote. For the wider picture of agent pricing, read our AI agent cost guide. If you mostly take calls, look at AI voice agents for salons instead, and the AI agent vs chatbot comparison explains why a booking agent differs from a menu-style bot. The general approach is on our AI agent development page.

Questions, answered

Will clients know they are talking to an AI?
We recommend saying so in the first message and offering a person at any point. Clients tend to accept it when the answer is fast and correct. You decide the wording and the name.
Does it work with our current booking software?
If the software has an API or a calendar feed, yes. If it does not, we can use a shared calendar as the source of truth or suggest a switch. We check this on the first call, before quoting.
Can it handle a stylist who is on holiday or off sick?
Yes, as long as the time off is in the calendar. The agent offers other stylists with the same skill or a waitlist, based on your rule.
What stops it giving the wrong price?
Prices come from your list, not from the model's memory. Anything outside the list, such as a correction job, is passed to a stylist for a quote.
Do you handle client data in a safe way?
We keep the data set small: name, contact, service history and consent. We list each tool the data passes through and use the AI agent security checklist as the baseline.
