AI automation for consultants

AI automation for consulting firms and independent consultants

Consulting sells expertise by the hour or the project, yet a surprising share of the week goes to proposals, status reports and hunting for the slide you wrote last year. We automate that layer and leave the thinking to your people.

In short

Liftup Technologies builds AI automation for consulting firms: first-draft proposals assembled from your past work, time and expense capture, weekly status reports, utilization dashboards, and a private search over your own deliverables. Client confidentiality drives the design, so every tool runs under your accounts with clear data boundaries. Projects start at $1,500, with a fixed quote after a short call.

Billable hours and the work around them

A partner's time is the product. Every hour spent reformatting a proposal, chasing timesheets or writing a status update nobody reads is an hour not billed or not sold. Small and mid-sized firms feel this most because they have no operations team behind them.

The target is non-billable work that follows a pattern. Strategy, client judgment and the final recommendation stay with the consultant.

A useful test is to ask each consultant which task they would hand to a good assistant tomorrow. The answers are rarely creative. They are meeting notes, version control on decks, chasing a client for a signed statement of work and rebuilding a slide from an old project. Each is a candidate. Our AI integration work connects the tools you already use so that the information moves without retyping.

Most firms start with proposals or time capture, since both save hours every week.

A searchable library of your own work

The most useful project for many firms is a private search across past decks, reports and proposals. Ask it how you priced a similar scope in an earlier engagement, and it returns the passages and the file they came from. It is a retrieval system over your documents, built like our RAG chatbot work, not a model trained on client material.

Access rules matter. A deliverable written for one client must not appear in answers for a staff member without access to it, so we mirror your folder permissions and let you mark files as excluded.

Before any index is built, we sample twenty documents to see how consistent your files are. Scanned PDFs, decks with text inside images and spreadsheets with hidden tabs all need different handling. That sampling step is why the quote is fixed only after we have seen real examples.

Confidentiality and client contracts

Client contracts often restrict where their information can be stored or processed, and some forbid third-party AI tools outright. Read your master services agreements before you send anything to a model. Keep sensitive work to tools you control, or strip names and figures before processing.

We document each system involved, choose provider settings that exclude training on your data, and can run the search index inside your own cloud account. The FTC publishes business guidance on claims about AI products, which is worth reading if you plan to describe automation to your own clients.

How we run it

  1. InterviewA call with a partner and whoever writes the proposals. We look at three recent proposals and one timesheet.
  2. PilotOne workflow, such as proposal drafts, goes live for one team with a person approving every output.
  3. ReviewAfter two or three weeks we compare time spent before and after, and decide what to extend.
  4. DocumentA short guide for new joiners explains what the tools do and what they must never be used for.

We work remotely from Pune and book calls in your working day, wherever you are in the US, UK, Australia or Ireland.

Price

Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour. A single time-capture or status-report flow is near the base price. A private search across years of documents costs more because of permissions, cleanup and testing. The AI automation cost guide covers the factors, and we give a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

Questions, answered

Will a model write our proposals for us?
It writes a first draft from your own past material, and a consultant edits it. We keep the draft clearly marked so unreviewed text never reaches a client.
Can it work with our existing tools?
Usually. Common stacks include HubSpot or another CRM, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, a project tool and a billing system. We check each connection on the first call.
What about client confidentiality?
Design starts there. Data stays in accounts you own, access follows your permissions, and sensitive clients can be excluded from any index.
We are a solo consultant. Is this worth it?
It can be, for one task such as call summaries or proposal drafts. A small project at the minimum price may pay back quickly.
Does it replace junior analysts?
It removes some of their rote work, such as first-pass summaries and formatting. Judging sources and building the argument still takes a person.
