AI chatbots for logistics
AI chatbots for logistics companies
Logistics support is mostly one question in different clothes: where is it, and when will it arrive. A chatbot connected to your tracking data answers that for shippers, receivers and drivers and flags the exceptions for dispatch.

In short
An AI chatbot for a logistics company answers shipment status, delivery window, document and quote questions using live data from your transport management system, and escalates exceptions to dispatch. It serves shippers, consignees and drivers differently and never promises a delivery time your system does not show. Liftup Technologies builds it with integration to your tracking data. Projects start at $1,500.
Where status calls come from
Customer service in freight, courier and warehousing spends much of the day on status checks. A receiver wants to know when the pallet arrives. A shipper wants the proof of delivery for an invoice dispute. A new customer asks for a rate on a load of a certain weight between two cities. The facts exist in the system, but a person has to fetch each one.
The real work is exceptions: a missed pickup, a customs hold, a damaged carton. Those need a human with authority. Cutting the routine status traffic gives dispatchers time to fix them.
Peak periods raise the stakes. Retail season, produce harvests and port congestion all push volume up at the same moment that capacity is tight. A bot that handles the routine thousands of status checks lets the human team concentrate on the shipments that are actually in trouble.
Different users, different bots
| User | Common question | Data source | Never shown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shipper | Where is load 48213? Send the POD | TMS tracking and document store | Other shippers' loads, carrier costs |
| Consignee | When will my delivery arrive? | Tracking reference and last scan | Shipper pricing |
| Prospective customer | Can you move 6 pallets from A to B? | Rate rules you publish | Margins, internal rates |
| Driver | Where do I unload? Who do I call? | Dock instructions, contact sheet | Customer billing |
| Carrier partner | How do I submit an invoice? | Carrier onboarding pack | Customer contracts |
Each user type gets its own entry point and permissions. A tracking number alone should show only status, while documents need a verified login or a signed link.
What we build
Status lookup
Reads the tracking reference, fetches the last event and the estimated window, and explains it in plain words. If data is stale, it says so rather than guess.
Quote intake
Collects origin, destination, weight, dimensions, pickup date and special handling, then sends a structured request to pricing, or returns a rate only where you have fixed tariffs.
Documents
Fetches proof of delivery, bills of lading and invoices for verified users, or emails them to the account contact.
Exception alerts
When a customer reports damage, shortage or refusal, the bot gathers photos and references and opens a ticket for the claims team.
Customs and compliance FAQs
Explains the documents typically needed for cross-border moves, with a note to confirm with your brokerage team.
We connect to what operators use, for example a TMS or WMS such as McLeod, Descartes, Manhattan or ShipStation, plus carrier tracking APIs, EDI feeds or a spreadsheet export when that is all there is. We confirm integration depth before quoting.

Get my free quoteAccuracy and liability
A wrong delivery promise causes real costs, such as a crew waiting on a dock. The bot therefore quotes the estimate in your system with its timestamp, labels it an estimate and does not extrapolate. For claims, it never admits liability or says what will be paid. Limits of liability sit in your terms, and a manager or claims handler applies them.
Consignee details such as names, addresses and phone numbers are personal data. We show only what a tracking-reference holder is meant to see, and avoid exposing customer lists. Check customs and data-transfer rules for cross-border work with your brokerage or lawyer.
Project steps
- Data checkWhat fields does the TMS expose, and how fresh is each?
- Pick the first audienceUsually consignees or shippers asking about status.
- Build the lookupRead-only API connection, plus plain-language explanations of every status code.
- Dispatcher testingDispatch staff test with live-looking loads and tricky cases.
- ExtendAdd quotes, documents and WhatsApp for drivers.
We work remotely from Pune, with calls fitted around dispatch shifts. For the general approach see AI chatbot development, and for automation of the back office see AI agents for logistics.
Pricing
A status-and-FAQ bot with one data connection can begin near our $1,500 minimum. Quote intake, document retrieval, driver channels in several languages or multiple depots add hours at $30 an hour, and the quote is fixed within one working day of a short call. The key cost driver is the state of your tracking data: clean APIs make it cheap, messy exports do not. The AI chatbot cost page explains the rest.
