In short
Liftup Technologies develops online stores for Swiss businesses, working remotely from India. We build on Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom stack, with CHF pricing, VAT display at 8.1 percent, TWINT, PostFinance, card and invoice payments, Swiss shipping rules and German, French and Italian storefronts. We connect orders to your ERP or accounting tool. A short call leads to a fixed quote within one working day.
What Swiss shoppers expect at checkout
Swiss customers compare your store with the best they know, and trust is built in small details: prices in CHF, VAT included and shown clearly, a known payment method, a clear delivery date and a returns policy in their language. A missing payment option or an unexpected shipping fee is the usual reason for an abandoned basket.
The standard rate of VAT is 8.1 percent. Whether your prices show VAT inclusive or exclusive depends on whether you sell to consumers or businesses, and your accountant should confirm the setup. We configure what you tell us and test it with sample orders.
Payments and shipping
| Need | Common option | What we set up |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile payment | TWINT | Through your payment provider, with a clear button on mobile |
| Bank-linked payment | PostFinance | Card and e-finance options via the provider you choose |
| Cards | Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay | Wallets shown first on mobile |
| Pay later | Invoice | Credit checks and terms handled by a provider or by your own rules |
| Shipping | Swiss Post, other carriers, pickup | Zones, free shipping thresholds and tracking emails |
| Returns | Prepaid label or drop-off | Return form and status page in the customer's language |
Provider availability and fees change, so we check them with your payment provider during scoping. TWINT details are published at twint.ch.
Choosing a platform
There is no single best platform. Shopify suits teams that want a hosted store with a quick launch and a strong app ecosystem. WooCommerce suits teams that already run WordPress or need full control over data and checkout logic. A custom build makes sense for unusual products, complex pricing or heavy integrations.
- Under about 500 products and a small team: Shopify is usually the fastest route.
- Content-heavy shops with WordPress already in use: WooCommerce keeps one system.
- B2B price lists, customer-specific catalogs and quotes: WooCommerce or a custom build.
- Subscription or configurable products: depends on the apps and rules you need, so we test early.
Our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison goes through the trade-offs, and the ecommerce website cost guide shows the main price drivers. For the Shopify route, see Shopify development for Switzerland.

Get my fixed quoteThree languages, one catalog
A Swiss store often needs product pages in German, French and Italian. The catalog stays in one place; the language layer holds titles, descriptions, URLs and policy pages. Every language version needs its own URL and hreflang tags with de-CH, fr-CH and it-CH, so search engines and customers land on the right page. Machine translation is a draft at best; we plan for a native review of product copy, legal pages and email templates. Swiss German spelling drops the ß, which is easy to miss in imported text.
Search visibility for these pages is covered in ecommerce SEO for Switzerland.
Connecting the back office
A store that needs manual re-entry of orders will not scale. We connect orders, stock and customers to the system you use, for example an accounting package or ERP such as Abacus or Bexio, a warehouse tool or a CRM. Where no direct connector exists, we build a small integration or use a workflow tool such as n8n or Make. We document what moves where and how errors are reported to your team.
Customer data in a store falls under the revised Federal Act on Data Protection, in force since 1 September 2023 and supervised by the FDPIC. Your privacy notice should name the payment, shipping and email tools you use. If you ship to EU customers, the GDPR can apply too. Please confirm final wording with your lawyer.
How the project runs
- ScopeCatalog size, markets, payment and shipping rules, and systems to connect.
- Design and buildA staging store you can click through from the first week, with weekly demos.
- TestSample orders in each language, with VAT, shipping and returns checked.
- LaunchRedirects from any old store, tracking, and a watch period after go-live.
We work remotely from India. Switzerland is 3.5 to 4.5 hours behind, so demos are held in the Swiss morning and the Indian afternoon. Projects start at $1,500 and the rate is $30 an hour. The fixed quote depends on catalog size, languages and integrations. Our ecommerce solutions page lists the standard deliverables.
