Website design for interior designers

Website design for interior designers and design studios

Clients hire an interior designer on taste and trust. The website has to show your work at its best, load quickly with big images and make the first consultation easy to ask for.

In short

Liftup Technologies designs portfolio websites for interior designers and small design studios in the USA, UK, Australia and Ireland. The site leads with project photography, explains your process and fees in plain terms, and makes booking a consultation simple. Images are prepared for speed so galleries stay fast on a phone. Projects start at $1,500, with a fixed quote in one working day.

Your portfolio is the product

Prospective clients scan quickly. In the first few seconds they decide whether your taste matches theirs, so the home page should show three or four of your strongest projects at full width with no slider and no text over the photos.

Each project then gets a case page. Good case pages tell a short story: the brief, the space before, the decisions you made and the result. Name the room types, the size and the style in words a client might search, such as small kitchen renovation or open-plan family home. Credit the photographer, since most photographers expect it and license terms often require it.

Be selective. Twelve excellent projects sell better than forty average ones, and a visitor who sees only your best work will assume everything is that good.

Your own words matter as much as the photos. A two-sentence design philosophy that sounds like you, not a brochure, helps the right client recognize themselves and helps the wrong one move on.

Fast galleries without losing quality

Interior photography is large, and large images slow a site down. A slow gallery loses visitors on a phone before they see anything. Our approach follows the same rules covered in our Core Web Vitals checklist.

Image decisionWhat we doWhy
File formatServe WebP or AVIF with a JPEG fallbackMuch smaller files at the same visual quality
Image sizeGenerate several widths and let the browser pickA phone does not download a desktop image
LoadingHero loads first, the rest load as the visitor scrollsThe page appears fast
Color profileExport in sRGBColors that match your photographer's edit across screens
Alt textDescribe the room and key materialsAccessibility and image search
VideoShort loop or click-to-play, never autoplay with soundSaves bandwidth and respects visitors

We ask for the original high-resolution files and handle exporting ourselves, so you do not need to resize anything.

Explaining how you work and what it costs

Interior design fees confuse clients. You may charge a flat fee, an hourly rate, a percentage of the build, or a design retainer with product mark-ups. A visitor who cannot guess your range will often not ask. A page called How we work sets out the stages: consultation, concept, specification, procurement, installation. Add a note on how you charge and a typical starting point if you are comfortable with it.

Add a short questionnaire to the enquiry form: type of space, location, rough budget band, timing and how the visitor heard about you. It filters out poor fits and gives you something to discuss on the first call.

Booking can use a scheduler such as Calendly or a CRM built for studios. Many designers use project tools, for example Houzz Pro or Dubsado, and we link to whichever you use.

Social proof that suits the trade

Reviews help, but photos of finished rooms help more. Add two or three short client quotes beside the relevant projects, with permission. Link to your Instagram or Pinterest for ongoing inspiration, but keep the site as your main home, since you own it and control how it looks. Press features and design awards belong on a small page of their own; only list those you really received.

For search, project pages with specific titles and location details support your SEO for interior designers, especially for local searches such as designers in a named town.

Process and pricing

We start with a call about your style, your ideal client and what you hope the site will do. Then comes a page list and a layout, a design in your visual language, a build on WordPress or Webflow and a mobile test. We work remotely from Pune, with calls in your working hours and weekly demo links.

Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. A studio with a home page, about page, six project pages and a contact form fits near the floor. Price rises with the number of project pages, a shop for products or a blog. See small business website cost for typical drivers, or our website design service overview.

We also check the contact page on a phone. Many enquiries come from someone browsing in the evening after seeing a project on Instagram, so the form should be short, the buttons large and the confirmation message warm and clear about when you will reply.

Questions, answered

Do I need professional photography?
It makes the biggest difference of anything on the site. If your budget is tight, start with the one or two best projects and add more later.
Can clients view a private mood board?
Yes, we can build a password-protected client page for each project. It is a good option for sharing concepts and approvals.
Should I add a shop?
Only if you already sell products regularly. A shop adds stock, shipping and tax work. Many designers prefer to link to supplier pages instead.
Can I update the portfolio myself?
Yes. We build a project template so you add photos and text in a simple editor, and we train you to use it.
How many projects should the site launch with?
Between six and twelve strong ones. You can add more over time.
