In short

Liftup Technologies builds iOS and Android apps for German companies, working remotely from India. We use React Native or Flutter for one codebase on both platforms, with the interface in German, privacy and consent flows that follow DSGVO, store listings in German, and submission to Apple and Google. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

Who builds apps in Germany and why

German app projects tend to come from three places: shops and service firms that want a loyalty or booking app, industrial and logistics companies that need a field-staff tool, and startups with a first product. The first two often replace paper or email processes. The third needs a narrow first release that can be tested with real users, which is why we start with the smallest version that proves the idea.

Another decision is whether to ship an app at all. Many German buyers still open a website first. If your users will use the product weekly, an app earns its place through push notifications, offline access and device features such as the camera or barcode scanner. If they use it twice a year, a fast mobile website is cheaper. We say so during scoping.

Cross-platform or native

OptionGood fitTrade-off
React NativeBusiness apps, shops, booking, teams that already use JavaScriptSome device features need native modules
FlutterCustom-designed interfaces and animation-heavy appsA separate language for your team to learn if they maintain it
Native iOS or AndroidHeavy use of device hardware or one platform onlyTwo codebases cost more if you need both
Progressive web appSimple tools without store distributionFewer device features on iOS; read our PWA vs native comparison

Most German business apps fit React Native or Flutter. We recommend one after the scope call, based on features, who will maintain the code and your budget.

Privacy and legal items for a German app

An app is a digital service, so you will usually need an Impressum reachable inside the app and a store listing with a link to your privacy notice. The privacy declarations in the App Store and Google Play must match what the app really collects, including any analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Under TDDDG and DSGVO, tracking SDKs and advertising identifiers need a lawful basis and often consent, and push notifications for marketing are a topic for your lawyer.

  • A consent screen on first launch for anything not strictly necessary, with a way to change the choice later.
  • Account deletion inside the app, which Apple and Google both expect when accounts can be created.
  • Servers in the EU where possible, for example in Frankfurt on a major cloud provider or with a German host.
  • A list of every SDK and third party in the app so the privacy notice is accurate.

Accessibility, payments and language

If the app supports online shopping or another consumer service in scope of the BFSG, accessibility is a legal question as well as a usability one. We build with screen reader labels, scalable text, contrast and touch targets that follow WCAG 2.2 AA guidance. For payments we connect to the provider you choose, such as Stripe, PayPal or Klarna, or in-app purchase when store rules require it. Interface text is German first, with strings kept separate so other languages can be added. Dates, numbers and currency follow German formats.

Offline behavior is worth planning for field and warehouse staff, since mobile coverage is uneven in rural areas and inside buildings. We design which data is cached, how changes sync when the connection returns, and what the user sees while waiting.

How the project runs

  1. Scope and wireframesScreens, user roles, back-end needs and release plan.
  2. Design in GermanInterface mockups with real German text, approved before development.
  3. Build with weekly buildsTest builds reach your phones through TestFlight and Google Play testing every week.
  4. Store submissionGerman listings, screenshots, privacy details and review responses.
  5. HandoverDeveloper accounts and code in your ownership, with documentation.

A Berlin morning is our Indian afternoon, since India is 4.5 hours ahead in winter and 3.5 hours ahead in summer. Demos and reviews are booked then.

Price

Projects start at $1,500, and the rate is $30 an hour. A simple app with a handful of screens sits near the low end. Back-end work, user accounts, payments, offline mode and integrations with your ERP or booking system raise the price. See the web app cost guide for comparable drivers, and the mobile app development service page for general scope.

Questions, answered

Do we need our own Apple and Google developer accounts?
Yes, in your company's name, so you own the app and its listing. We help set them up and handle the submission.
How long does store review take?
It varies and is controlled by Apple and Google. Plan time for at least one round of review feedback before your launch date.
Can the app use our existing website login?
Usually yes, through an API or single sign-on, depending on your system. We check this during scoping.
Who maintains the app after launch?
You can retain us for updates at the hourly rate, or hand the code to your own team. Operating system updates make some maintenance necessary every year.
Do you have developers in Germany?
No. The team works remotely from India and books meetings in German working hours.
Can the app be released in German only at first?
Yes. Many teams launch in German, keep strings in separate files and add English or other languages after the first release.
