In short

Liftup Technologies builds iOS and Android apps for Austrian businesses, working remotely from India. A project covers scope, design, development in React Native or Flutter, German-language store listings, privacy declarations and release to the App Store and Google Play. A fixed quote follows a short call, and the developer accounts and source code stay yours.

What kind of app Austrian companies ask for

Requests fall into a few groups. Service firms want a customer app with bookings, documents and messages. Tourism businesses want guest apps for rooms, lift passes, local tips and mountain-hut information. Trades and technical firms want field apps for work orders, photos and signatures. Retailers want a shop app that sits on top of an existing online store.

Before building an app, ask whether one is needed. A fast website that works like an app can be enough for a booking form or a catalog. Our comparison of a PWA and a native app shows where each wins. If the answer is an app, we build it properly.

Internal apps are a quiet but common request. A craft business that tracks jobs on paper, or a property manager who collects inspection photos by email, can often save hours each week with a simple private app that only staff can install.

Choosing the technology

OptionGood forTrade-off
React NativeBusiness and shop apps, one team for iOS and Android, reuse of web skillsSome hardware features need native modules
FlutterHighly custom interfaces and animation, consistent look on both platformsLarger app size, smaller pool of Flutter developers to hire later
Native Swift and KotlinHeavy camera, Bluetooth or background workTwo codebases, higher cost
Progressive web appSimple catalogs, forms and contentLimited access to device features on iPhone

For most Austrian business apps we suggest React Native or Flutter, because one codebase halves the cost of keeping both platforms current. We explain the reasoning before the quote, not after.

Austria-specific points in app design

  • Offline use. Mobile coverage can be weak in valleys, tunnels and huts. Field and tourism apps cache content and queue actions until the connection returns.
  • Language. German is the main version, and English is common for hotels and ski regions. Italian can matter near the southern border. All text lives in language files from day one.
  • Payments. Apple Pay and Google Pay work well for physical goods and services. Digital content sold inside an app has to follow Apple and Google's in-app purchase rules.
  • Login. Face and fingerprint login is common, and we add it where the data is sensitive.
  • Formats. Dates as 03.11.2026, prices as 1.250,00 €, addresses with the postal code before the town.

Push notifications need care. They require consent on iPhone and, on recent Android versions, as well. We ask at a moment when the benefit is clear, for example when a user books an appointment, rather than at first launch.

Privacy, store rules and accessibility

An app is subject to GDPR, and the Datenschutzbehörde is the Austrian authority. The app needs a privacy policy, an in-app consent flow for analytics and push where required, and accurate privacy declarations in the App Store and Google Play listing. The wrong declaration is a common reason a release is rejected.

Accessibility is a second point. The European Accessibility Act, applied in Austria through the BaFG from 28 June 2025, covers certain consumer services such as e-commerce, and apps that deliver them can be in scope. We build with dynamic text sizes, screen reader labels and good contrast as defaults. Ask your lawyer whether your app is covered.

How the work runs

  1. Scope and clickable prototypeWe agree the key screens, then you tap through a prototype before code is written.
  2. Build in two-week cyclesA test build on your phone every cycle, through TestFlight on iPhone and a test track on Android.
  3. Store preparationGerman listing text, screenshots, privacy declarations and review notes, submitted from your developer accounts.
  4. Release and supportStaged rollout, crash monitoring and a bug-fix window agreed in the quote.

Vienna is 3.5 or 4.5 hours behind India depending on the season, so a 10:00 call in Austria is 13:30 or 14:30 for us. We work remotely from Pune with no Austrian office. See the general mobile app development service for details.

Price drivers

Projects start at $1,500 and extra work is billed at $30 an hour. A simple app with a few screens sits near the lower end of what is practical, while apps with accounts, payments, back-end APIs and admin panels need much more time. Apple and Google developer accounts are paid by you directly. If the idea is new, a smaller first version is described under MVP development.

Questions, answered

Do I need separate apps for iPhone and Android?
Not with React Native or Flutter. One codebase produces both. We use native code only where a feature needs it.
Who owns the app and the store accounts?
You do. The Apple Developer and Google Play accounts are created in your company's name, and the source code goes to your repository.
How long does review take?
Review times vary. We plan a buffer at release and prepare the listing and privacy declarations carefully to avoid rejections.
Can the app connect to my existing systems?
Yes, through an API to your CRM, shop, booking tool or accounting software. If no API exists, we scope one as part of the project.
Can you take over an app someone else built?
Yes, after a short code review. We tell you what is worth keeping and what should be rebuilt.
