In short

Liftup Technologies builds and customizes WordPress and WooCommerce sites for German businesses, working remotely from India. The scope covers custom themes, plugin selection, German-language setup, an Impressum and consent banner configured for DSGVO and TDDDG, security hardening, speed work and hosting on a German or EU provider. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

Why WordPress is common in Germany, and where it goes wrong

WordPress is the most widely used content management system, and German agencies, hosting companies and legal-text providers all build around it. That helps: plugins for German legal pages, consent management and invoice formats exist. It also creates a typical problem. A site assembled from fifteen plugins loads slowly, leaks data to third parties without anyone noticing, and breaks on the next update.

Our approach is a lean custom or lightly modified theme, a short list of plugins with a reason for each one, and a written inventory of every service the site calls. That inventory is what your lawyer and data protection officer need to review the privacy notice.

A rebuild is not always the answer. If the current theme is sound and the problems come from heavy plugins, large images or a slow host, targeted fixes can save a lot of budget. We say which route fits after looking at the site, not before.

WooCommerce for German shops

WooCommerce can run a full German shop, but it needs setup that a default install lacks. Prices show including VAT, with the 19% and 7% rates assigned per product. The order button reads „zahlungspflichtig bestellen“. Legal links appear at checkout, and the 14-day withdrawal information goes into the confirmation email. Payment gateways commonly include PayPal, Klarna, card payments and SEPA direct debit, plus invoice purchase where your provider supports it.

Whether WooCommerce or Shopify suits you depends on your team and catalog. Our Shopify vs WooCommerce comparison sets out the trade-offs, and our German ecommerce development page covers the platform choice in more detail.

Product pages also need German details that default themes ignore: the unit price where required for goods sold by weight or volume, delivery time statements, and clear shipping cost information before the cart. Your lawyer confirms the exact wording, and we place it where the template can show it consistently.

Hosting, speed and updates

Many German companies prefer a host with servers in Germany or the EU, for example Hetzner, IONOS, or a managed WordPress provider with a Frankfurt region. We can build on the host you already use or advise on one that fits your size. We cache pages, compress images, remove unused scripts and test Core Web Vitals, because slow shop pages cost sales on mobile. After launch, updates and backups are either handled by your host, by us on a retainer, or by your own team with our handover notes.

Backups are tested by restoring them to a staging copy, because a backup that has never been restored is only a hope. Update schedules and an emergency contact for a broken site are written into the handover notes.

How a project runs

  1. Review or briefFor an existing site we audit plugins, speed, security and legal pages first.
  2. Fixed quoteScope and price within one working day of a short call.
  3. Build on stagingGerman content is placed on a private staging copy and shown in weekly demos.
  4. TestForms, consent, payment tests, accessibility with WCAG 2.2 AA in mind, and mobile speed.
  5. Launch and handoverGo live, redirects, backups confirmed, accounts in your name.

India is 4.5 hours ahead of Germany in winter and 3.5 hours ahead in summer, so a Cologne morning meeting fits our afternoon.

Price

Projects start at $1,500 and the rate is $30 an hour. Custom design, number of templates, WooCommerce features, migrations and integrations move the price most. The WordPress website cost guide lists the drivers, and the general WordPress development service page describes the full scope.

Questions, answered

Can you fix or rebuild our current WordPress site?
Yes. We start with an audit of plugins, speed, security and legal pages, then decide whether to repair, refactor or rebuild.
Will you page-build with Elementor or write custom code?
Either. A page builder suits teams that edit often. Custom code is leaner for speed. We recommend one after the scope call.
Who owns the site and the code?
You do. Hosting, domain and plugin licenses are in your name, and you receive the full code at handover.
Can you add English next to German?
Yes, with a multilingual plugin or separate sites, plus hreflang tags. We pick the approach by content volume and editing habits.
Do you support sites after launch?
Yes, on request at the hourly rate or as a retainer. See also our website maintenance checklist.
