In short
Liftup Technologies builds and customises Shopify stores for Norwegian sellers, working remotely from India. The scope includes theme work, bokmål translation, NOK pricing with MVA settings, Vipps and card payments, shipping rules and app integrations. Calls are booked in Norwegian hours. You receive a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.
Setting up Shopify for a Norwegian audience
A default Shopify store is built for a US buyer. For Norway the details change: currency, tax display, payment options, language and the way you describe delivery and returns. We configure them in order so that nothing is left as a half-translated surprise at checkout.
| Setting | Norwegian configuration |
|---|---|
| Currency | NOK as the primary currency, or NOK through Shopify Markets for a store that also sells abroad |
| Tax display | Consumer prices with 25% MVA included, shipping tax rules tested with sample orders |
| Language | Bokmål storefront and checkout strings, with a translation app or manual strings for legal pages |
| Payments | Cards plus Vipps MobilePay through an app or payment provider that supports it, and invoice or instalment options if you want them |
| Shipping | Zones and rates for Norway, pickup points and clear delivery times |
| Legal pages | Terms, returns, privacy and contact details including organisation number |
We also review the apps you plan to install. Each app adds code and often a tracker, which affects speed and consent. We prefer fewer, well-chosen apps and custom theme code where an app would only add a banner or a badge.
Selling into Norway from abroad
If your company is outside Norway, the VOEC scheme lets a foreign seller register with the Norwegian tax authority and charge Norwegian MVA at checkout on low-value goods, with the per-item threshold at NOK 3,000 when we last checked. Items above that value follow the normal import route. These are accountant decisions, and we then set up Shopify so prices, tax lines and invoices match what your accountant has chosen.
A store with a Norwegian company can sell on a .no domain. Norid generally requires a Norwegian registered organisation for it.
If you already sell through a marketplace or another platform, we can import your order history and customer list, subject to consent rules, so that support staff keep a full record.
Privacy, withdrawal and consumer terms
Norway applies the GDPR through the Personal Data Act, supervised by Datatilsynet. Marketing apps, pixels and reviews apps all add trackers, so we audit them and connect each to a consent banner. Norwegian consumers usually have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases, and stores must make company and contact details clear. Your lawyer should check the final wording of terms and returns pages.

Get my fixed quoteCheckout, delivery and returns for Norwegian shoppers
Norwegian buyers expect to see delivery options and cost before they enter an address, and they often pick a parcel pickup point near home. Pickup point selection normally comes from a carrier or shipping app, so we choose one that works with the carriers you use and test it on mobile.
Returns are a trust point. A clear returns page, a visible 14-day withdrawal statement where it applies, and a simple return process lower support load and reassure first-time buyers. We draft the structure, and your lawyer checks the legal wording.
How the build runs
- PlanCatalogue structure, apps, languages and payment methods agreed on a short call.
- Theme and contentA fast theme adapted to your brand, with bokmål strings and product templates.
- Checkout and tax testsSample orders with Vipps in test mode, discount codes, shipping rules and MVA lines.
- LaunchDomain, redirects from any old store, analytics with consent, and a recorded training session.
See our Shopify launch checklist for the items we verify, and our Shopify development service page for platform detail.
After launch we offer a support block for fixes and small changes. For a growing catalogue, we can also set up bulk import templates so your team can add products without a developer.
Working across the time gap
Norway is 4 hours 30 minutes behind India in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes behind in summer. Morning calls in Oslo land in the Indian afternoon, and a store owner can review staging links before the Norwegian day ends. One lead owns your project and posts a short update after each milestone.
Quotes list what is in and out of scope, so a change request is a conversation about price rather than a surprise on the invoice.
Pricing
Projects start at $1,500, and the hourly rate is $30. Catalogue size, custom theme sections, app integrations and data migration move the price. Our Shopify store cost guide explains typical ranges. Add search work later through Shopify SEO for Norway.
