In short

Liftup Technologies builds online stores for Norwegian merchants and foreign sellers entering Norway, working remotely from India. We choose between Shopify, WooCommerce and custom builds, set up NOK pricing with MVA, Vipps and card payments, carrier and pickup options, and consent. Calls fit Norwegian hours. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

Picking a platform for a Norwegian store

There is no single right platform. The choice depends on catalogue size, who edits the store, integrations and budget. We help you compare before you commit.

PlatformGood fitWatch for
ShopifyMost small and mid-sized stores wanting fast launch and low upkeepMonthly fees and app costs add up; check payment options for Norway
WooCommerceStores that already run WordPress or want full control of hosting and codeYou manage updates, security and speed
Custom or headlessComplex catalogues, B2B pricing, unusual workflowsHigher build cost; needs a clear specification

Norwegian checkout essentials

Vipps MobilePay is the payment method many Norwegians expect to see, alongside cards. Some also want invoice or instalment options through a provider. Shoppers also look for a parcel pickup point close to home and a delivery estimate shown before they pay.

Prices to consumers are shown in kroner with 25% MVA included. Shipping fees and any extra charges should be visible before the final step. Norwegian consumers normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for distance purchases, and stores must show clear company information including organisation number and contact details. We build the pages and settings, and your lawyer confirms the legal wording.

Invoice and instalment options through a payment provider are common in Norway for larger baskets, and Klarna is widely known. Each provider has its own approval process and fees, so we raise them early. Do not add every method: too many choices slow checkout, and each one needs testing.

Foreign sellers: VOEC and customs

A seller outside Norway shipping low-value goods to consumers can register under the VOEC scheme, charge Norwegian MVA at the point of sale and avoid surprise charges at delivery. The per-item value limit was NOK 3,000 when we last checked. Larger consignments follow normal customs rules.

Your accountant decides whether VOEC suits you. We then configure tax lines, invoices and order notes in the store so they match the scheme. Details should be checked against current Norwegian tax authority guidance before launch.

Privacy and trust

A store collects names, addresses, order history and payment-related data. Norway applies the GDPR through the Personal Data Act, supervised by Datatilsynet, and consent for non-essential cookies comes from the Electronic Communications Act. Marketing emails to consumers generally need prior consent. We configure checkout consent boxes, email sign-up and analytics so that each follows the rule you and your lawyer set.

Integrations that save daily work

A store is more useful when it talks to the rest of your business. Typical connections are accounting software such as Fiken, Tripletex or Visma, a carrier or shipping tool for labels and tracking, an inventory source, and an email platform for order updates and consented marketing.

Each integration is scoped separately so you can see its cost. We prefer a small number of reliable links over a long list of fragile ones, and we write down how each one works so your team can support it.

A store built without search in mind is costly to fix later. We set clean category structure, readable URLs, product schema in NOK and image sizes that load fast on mobile from the first release. Our ecommerce SEO service in Norway continues this work after launch.

How a build runs

  1. Plan the catalogueCategories, variants, tax and shipping, imported from your spreadsheet or old store.
  2. Build and connectTheme or custom front end, payments, carriers, accounting and email tools.
  3. Test ordersOrders with Vipps in test mode, discount rules, returns and failed payments.
  4. LaunchRedirects from old URLs, tracking with consent, and training for your team.

Norway trails India by 4 hours 30 minutes in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes in summer, so weekly demos fit the Norwegian morning. Our ecommerce website cost guide shows typical price drivers.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. Catalogue size, custom features, integrations and migration work drive the price. A fixed quote follows a short call. For Shopify-specific detail see Shopify development in Norway. Stores built with us are opened in your name: platform accounts, domain, hosting and code.

Questions, answered

Which platform should we choose?
Shopify suits most stores. WooCommerce suits WordPress-based teams, and custom suits complex needs. We recommend one after a short call.
Can the store accept Vipps?
Yes, through a platform app or a payment provider that supports Vipps MobilePay. We test it in sandbox mode before launch.
Do I need a Norwegian company to sell in Norway?
Not always. Foreign sellers may use the VOEC scheme for low-value goods. Confirm your situation with an accountant.
Can you migrate our current store?
Yes. We move products, customers and orders and set redirects to protect search traffic.
Will the store work in Norwegian and English?
Yes, with separate language versions and correct hreflang tags.
How long does an ecommerce build take?
A standard Shopify store takes weeks, while a custom build takes months. Your fixed quote includes a timeline.
