In short

Liftup Technologies provides Shopify SEO for stores selling to Norway, working remotely from India. We fix duplicate URLs, collection and product page structure, theme speed and app bloat, set up Shopify Markets with correct hreflang and krone pricing, check structured data for NOK and MVA, and report from Search Console. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

Where Shopify stores lose search traffic

Shopify gives each product several possible URLs, such as one inside a collection and one direct. Canonical tags normally point to the main version, but themes and apps sometimes break this. Filters and tags can create near-identical collection pages. Old apps leave scripts behind that slow every page.

We crawl the store, compare it with what Google has indexed, and fix the issues that matter most for sales, starting with the pages that already earn clicks.

Selling in Norway: markets, language and currency

A store that sells in Norway should show prices in kroner, with MVA handling that matches your tax setup, and ideally a Norwegian version of key pages. Shopify Markets lets you manage countries, currencies and languages in one store, but the SEO side needs checking.

SettingWhat to checkCommon mistake
Markets and domainsChoose subfolders such as /nb or a country domain, and stay consistentSwitching structure after launch

Foreign sellers shipping low-value goods may use the VOEC scheme. Your accountant decides, and we make sure the store settings match. See our Shopify SEO checklist for the full audit list.

Collections, products and content

Collection pages are often the best entry points for commercial searches, yet many stores leave them as bare grids. We write short, useful intros, add buying guidance for the category and link to related collections. Product pages get clear titles, specifications, size or fit details, delivery times for Norway, return information and reviews that are genuine.

Norwegian shoppers search in everyday language, so we research the terms people really use, including compound words, and avoid translating English terms literally. Write handles in plain letters where you can, or pick one consistent way of handling æ, ø and å.

Internal links are another quick gain. Link from guides to the collections they support, and from collections to the best sellers, using plain descriptive anchor text. Many Shopify themes hide this behind menus only.

Speed and apps

Each app can add scripts, styles and requests. We audit the theme and app list, remove what is unused, compress images, defer non-essential scripts and test Core Web Vitals on real product and collection pages. A faster store ranks better and converts better, particularly on mobile.

Consent banners and tracking pixels are part of the speed picture. In Norway, non-essential cookies need consent under the Electronic Communications Act, and the GDPR applies through the Personal Data Act. We check that tags wait for consent and that the banner does not shift the layout.

Structured data and reviews

Themes usually output basic product data, but the details are often wrong or incomplete. We check name, image, price, priceCurrency, availability and brand, and make sure the numbers match what the shopper sees. If prices vary by market, structured data must follow the market.

Review stars can win clicks, yet they must come from genuine customer reviews shown on the page. We do not add markup for ratings you cannot show. Merchant Center feeds are checked against the same data, so Shopping listings and the site agree.

How the work runs

  1. AuditCrawl, Search Console review, theme and app review, plus a market and hreflang check.
  2. Fix the structureCanonicals, collections, redirects, schema and speed issues.
  3. Grow the pagesCollection copy, product improvements and new guide content.
  4. ReportMonthly Search Console and sales data, with next steps.

We work in the Norwegian morning. Norway is 4 hours 30 minutes behind India in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes behind in summer. For broader store SEO beyond Shopify, see ecommerce SEO in Norway.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. Catalogue size, number of markets and content volume move the price. See our Shopify SEO service and the ecommerce SEO cost guide. If you also need store changes, Shopify development in Norway covers builds and apps. A fixed quote follows a short call.

Questions, answered

Is Shopify good for SEO?
It handles many basics well. Duplicate URLs, thin collections, heavy apps and market setup still need attention.
Should we use subfolders or a .no domain?
Subfolders are simpler to manage, while a .no domain can build local trust but needs a Norwegian organisation. We advise after a call.
Can you translate our store into Norwegian?
Yes, with a native reviewer. We avoid unreviewed machine translation for key pages.
Do you need staff access to our store?
A staff account with limited permissions is enough. You can remove it at any time.
How long before results show?
Technical fixes can show in weeks, while content gains build over several months. Timing depends on competition.
Do apps help or hurt Shopify SEO?
Both can happen. Some add useful features, others add heavy scripts. We audit every app for value and speed.
