In short
Liftup Technologies designs and builds websites, online stores and web or mobile apps for Norwegian businesses, working remotely from India. Builds include bokmål pages, Vipps and card checkout, MVA-inclusive prices in kroner and a consent setup for Datatilsynet's expectations. Calls are booked in Norwegian working hours. You receive a fixed quote after a short call.
What Norwegian visitors expect from a site
Norway is a high-trust, mobile-first market where many people pay with their phone. A site that feels imported loses buyers fast. These are the points that most often change how we build.
| Expectation | What it means in the build |
|---|---|
| Bokmål text | Navigation, buttons, errors and legal pages in Norwegian, with English as a clean second version |
| Vipps at checkout | Vipps MobilePay offered next to cards and invoice options on stores and booking flows |
| BankID | Login or signing through an identity provider when a service needs verified identity |
| MVA included | Consumer prices shown in kroner with 25% MVA included and delivery costs visible early |
| Company details | Name, organisation number and contact details easy to find, as Norwegian e-commerce rules expect |
Speed matters because many visitors arrive on a phone over mobile data while commuting or travelling. We aim for small pages, compressed images and a layout that does not jump while loading. Our Core Web Vitals checklist lists what we measure before launch.
What we build
We cover the common web projects for Norwegian companies.
- Marketing sites and landing pages: see website design and website redesign.
- Online stores on Shopify or WooCommerce: see Shopify development and ecommerce development.
- WordPress sites your team can edit without a developer: see WordPress development.
- Customer portals, booking tools and dashboards: see web app development.
- iOS and Android apps: see mobile app development.
General background on each service sits on our website development page.
Language, domain and structure
Bokmål is the working language of nearly all Norwegian commercial sites. Nynorsk is official too, and public bodies must offer it, but most private firms publish in bokmål and English. We set the language attribute correctly, use hreflang nb-NO where several versions exist, and keep URL slugs readable by replacing æ, ø and å with ae, o and a, or by encoding them consistently.
A .no domain is administered by Norid and generally requires a Norwegian registered organisation. If you have no Norwegian entity, a /no/ folder on a .com site is a sound alternative. We help you choose and set up redirects, canonical tags and DNS.

Get my fixed quoteUniversal design is a legal topic here
Norwegian law requires websites and other ICT solutions aimed at the public to be universally designed. The duty comes from the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act and its ICT regulation, with supervision by the Norwegian Digitalisation Agency, Digdir. Which version of WCAG the regulation names has changed over time, so check the current text with your lawyer.
We build to WCAG 2.2 level AA as a practical target: keyboard use, contrast, labelled forms and readable error messages. Many Norwegian sites also publish an accessibility statement. Our WCAG checklist shows what we test.
Privacy, cookies and e-commerce rules
Norway applies the GDPR through the Personal Data Act, and Datatilsynet supervises it. Cookies and tracking scripts fall under the Electronic Communications Act, so non-essential tags should wait for consent. Stores also face Norwegian consumer rules such as a 14-day right of withdrawal for most distance sales. These are checklist items for your lawyer, and we build the pages and flows to fit what they decide.
Because we are in India, personal data that our team can see is a transfer outside the EEA. We use test data wherever possible and put a data processing agreement with transfer safeguards in place before any real-data access.
How a project runs from India
- Short callWe agree scope, language versions and platform, then send a fixed quote within one working day.
- Design and buildYou see weekly demos on a staging link. One lead handles your questions.
- TestSample orders with Vipps in test mode, form checks, accessibility checks and speed checks on mobile.
- Launch and handoverRedirects, consent setup, analytics and a recorded walkthrough so your team can edit content.
Norway is 4 hours 30 minutes behind India in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes behind in summer. Morning calls in Oslo fall in the Indian afternoon, which suits both sides.
Content ownership is simple. Your domain, hosting, repositories and store accounts are opened in your name, and we work inside them as collaborators. If you stop working with us, you keep everything, with documentation so another developer can continue.
Pricing
Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. The price moves with page count, number of languages, integrations such as Vipps or an accounting system, and custom features. Read our website cost guide for typical drivers, then ask for a fixed quote through the contact page.
