A new look should not cost you your search traffic. We redesign Norwegian sites with a migration plan first: URL map, redirects, content audit, accessibility and tracking, then a staged launch.

In short
Liftup Technologies redesigns websites for Norwegian businesses, working remotely from India. We audit what ranks and converts today, plan the new structure, map every old URL to a new one, rebuild in bokmål with universal design in mind, test on staging and launch with monitoring. Calls fit Norwegian hours. You get a fixed quote after a short call.
Signs a redesign is due
Common triggers are an outdated look, slow pages, a site that is hard to edit, poor mobile use, a new brand or a platform that is no longer supported. Sometimes the right move is not a full redesign. A faster theme, clearer pages and a few new landing pages may do the job for less money. We tell you which.
Before any design, we look at what the site already earns: pages with traffic, pages that bring enquiries, and links from other sites. Those pages are protected during the move.
A redesign is also the time to cut. Old pages with no traffic, no links and no purpose can be merged or removed. A smaller site that is clear often performs better than a large one that is not.
The migration plan
| Step | What we do | What it prevents |
|---|---|---|
| Inventory | Crawl the old site and list every URL with traffic, links and conversions | Losing a page that quietly drives enquiries |
| URL map | Match each old URL to a new one | Broken links and lost rankings |
| 301 redirects | Implement permanent redirects and test them in bulk | Chains, loops and 404 errors |
| Content check | Keep or improve ranking text before restyling | Dropping content Google already values |
| Staging review | Block the staging site from search and test all templates | Duplicate or half-built pages in the index |
| Launch monitoring | Watch Search Console, analytics and server errors daily | Problems running for weeks unnoticed |
Our website redesign checklist and website migration checklist list every step.
Norwegian details to keep
- Language: pages are in bokmål with the lang attribute set to nb. Add nynorsk or English only if you have an audience, with correct hreflang tags.
- URLs: if your current slugs use æ, ø or å, keep one consistent form and redirect the other.
- Domain: a .no domain is managed through Norid and requires a Norwegian organisation. Do not change domains during a redesign unless there is a strong reason.
- Company information: organisation number, address and contact details should be visible and correct.
- Cookies and tracking: re-implement consent so that analytics and marketing tags wait for permission, as the Electronic Communications Act requires.
- Forms: keep privacy notices on every form, consistent with the GDPR as applied through the Personal Data Act.

We look at how people use the old site: where they click, where they leave and which forms they start but do not finish. These findings guide the new layout, so that phone numbers, quote forms and key services appear where visitors look for them.
We also keep the design honest. Real photos, clear prices or price ranges, named contacts and visible company details do more for trust than decoration. Page weight stays low so the site is fast on mobile networks.
Universal design and accessibility
Norwegian rules on universal design of ICT cover many websites aimed at the public, under the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act, with oversight by Digdir for certain bodies. Some businesses are in scope and some are not, so confirm with counsel. Either way, an accessible site works better for everyone.
We design with strong contrast, readable text sizes, visible focus states, keyboard navigation, labelled forms and alt text, aiming for WCAG 2.2 level AA. If your site must publish an accessibility statement, we draft the page from our test results. Our website redesign service page explains the general approach.
How the project runs
- Audit and goalsTraffic, conversions, content and technical review, plus what the business needs next.
- Structure and designPage types, navigation and visual direction, with review rounds.
- Build and migrateTemplates, content, redirects and tracking on a private staging site.
- Launch and watchGo live at a quiet hour, then monitor indexing, errors and enquiries.
Norway is 4 hours 30 minutes behind India in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes behind in summer, so launches and check-ins fit the Norwegian working day.
Pricing
Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. Page count, custom features, content work and the platform decide the price. Read our website redesign cost guide for the drivers. If your redesign is aimed at a design refresh only, see website design in Norway. A fixed quote follows a short call. You own the site, domain and accounts.
