In short

Liftup Technologies provides SEO and AI search optimization for Spanish businesses, working remotely from India. The work starts with technical fixes, then Spanish-language content and links written for google.es, with hreflang that separates Spain from Latin America. Cookie consent follows AEPD guidance, and results are reported from your own Google Search Console. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

Spain is not Latin America: choose your Spanish

Spanish is one language with real regional vocabulary. A page written for Mexico or Argentina can read as foreign to a buyer in Valencia, and the search words differ too. Keyword research for Spain has to start from queries on google.es, not from a list built for another Spanish-speaking market.

Spain (es-ES)Common in Latin AmericaWhat to do
ordenadorcomputadoraCheck Search Console before choosing the page term
móvilcelularUse the Spain form in titles and headings
cochecarroMatch the category you sell, then test variants
zumojugoUse the local word in product names and feeds
vosotrosustedesKeep one voice per site and apply it everywhere

If you also sell in Mexico or Colombia, give each market its own section with its own hreflang value. Our hreflang generator helps with the tags, and international SEO covers the wider structure.

Domains, regional languages and structure

The .es domain is run by Red.es, and the registry's own site is dominios.es. To our knowledge it is open to registrants outside Spain, but check the current terms before you buy. A .es name is a clear local signal, though a .com with a /es/ folder can rank too if the rest of the setup is right.

Catalan, Basque and Galician are co-official languages in their regions. Whether to publish in them is a business call, not an SEO rule. If your customers in Barcelona or Bilbao search in Catalan or Basque, those pages can win queries a Spanish page never will.

SituationSetup we would suggestWatch for
Spanish company selling in Spain onlyA .es domain, Spanish pages, es-ES as the languageKeep one URL per page and redirect old versions
Global .com adding SpainA /es/ section with hreflang es-ES and euro pricesMachine-translated pages left to compete with the English ones
Spain plus CataloniaSpanish by default, Catalan pages for the pages that matterEvery Catalan page needs a Spanish partner and reciprocal hreflang
Spain plus Latin Americaes-ES and es-MX or es-419 as separate sectionsSpanish and Mexican pages that are near copies

A plain rule helps: one page per language and market, one canonical URL, and hreflang that points both ways. Most hreflang errors come from one-way tags and from pages that redirect.

Rules that touch an SEO programme

  • GDPR and the Spanish law LOPDGDD, supervised by the AEPD. Analytics, forms and remarketing process personal data, so the privacy policy and consent flow must describe them.
  • LSSI-CE, the Spanish law on information society services. It covers the legal notice (aviso legal) with the business identity, and the consent rule for cookies and similar trackers. The AEPD publishes guidance on cookies, and rejecting should be as easy as accepting.
  • Commercial email. Under LSSI-CE, unsolicited commercial email generally needs prior consent. That affects link-building outreach and newsletters sent to individuals. Ask your lawyer where business addresses stand.
  • Search Console and server-side analytics keep working when visitors decline cookies, which is why we report from them.

None of this is legal advice. We build the cookie banner, policy pages and tracking so your lawyer has something concrete to review.

What the Spanish year does to search demand

Demand in Spain follows its own calendar, and August is slow for B2B. A content plan copied from the US or UK misses the moments that matter.

WhenWhat movesSEO work to schedule
6 January, then the winter salesReyes Magos gifts, then rebajasKeep one permanent sale URL and update it, rather than making a new one each year
19 March and early MayFather's Day and Mother's DayGift guides live well before the date, with delivery cut-offs stated
April to JuneIncome tax campaign (la renta)Tax-time pages for professionals, freelancers and small firms
1 JulySummer sales startRefresh category pages and feeds in late June
Late NovemberBlack Friday and Cyber MondayLanding pages indexed in October, not the week before

Content for these dates needs lead time. Google needs weeks to discover, crawl and rank a new page, so a Black Friday page published on the Monday of that week often misses the chance.

AI search for Spanish queries

People in Spain now ask ChatGPT and Google's AI answers questions in Spanish. We cover this under AI search optimization: clear business and entity details, passages that answer a question in two or three sentences, and crawler access in robots.txt. Spain-specific pages for Spanish AI search and technical SEO go into the detail.

For online shops, see ecommerce SEO in Spain and Shopify SEO in Spain. For software companies, there is SaaS SEO, and for firms that sell to other firms, B2B SEO.

Working across the time gap

Spain is three and a half hours behind India in summer and four and a half in winter. The Canary Islands are an hour further behind. Spanish offices often break from 14:00 to 16:00, so the best calls are Spanish mornings: 11:00 in Madrid is 15:30 in India in winter and 14:30 in summer. We book calls in your working hours, send a written update after each phase and report monthly from Search Console.

What SEO costs: market data

We do not publish a monthly retainer. After a short call you get a fixed quote within one working day, which you can request on the contact page. Our projects start at $1,500, and extra work is $30 an hour. For context, the Clutch SEO pricing guide reports an average of $3,199 a month and $100 to $149 an hour. Figures are in US dollars. IVA at 21% applies to most services supplied within Spain, but check with your gestor how it applies to a supplier outside the EU.

Questions, answered

Do I need a .es domain to rank in Spain?
No. A .es name sends a clear local signal, but a .com with a /es/ section, hreflang es-ES, euro prices and Spanish contact details can also rank.
Should I write in Catalan, Basque or Galician as well?
Only if your customers search in those languages. We check Search Console and the suggestions on google.es first, then add regional pages where they carry real demand.
How long does SEO take in Spain?
Usually months, not weeks, and it depends on competition and the state of the site. Our guide on how long SEO takes explains the stages.
Do you need an office in Spain?
No. The work is remote, with calls booked in your working hours. Your Search Console and analytics stay in your own accounts.
Can you help with Google Business Profile?
Yes, through our local SEO work: profile setup, categories, location pages and Spanish directory citations.
