Where AI pays off for Spanish firms

Spain has a very large number of small firms and self-employed professionals (autónomos), many of whom lose hours to email, quotes and invoices. That is where a narrow, well-tested automation tends to pay back first. A broad assistant for everything usually does not.

We start by asking which task is repeated most often and where a mistake is cheap. That is the right first project. A chatbot that answers opening hours and delivery questions is safer than one that decides refunds.

Rules to settle before a build

• Personal data. GDPR and the Spanish LOPDGDD apply when customer names, emails or messages enter a prompt. The AEPD publishes guidance on AI and data protection that your lawyer will want to see.
• Transparency. The EU AI Act expects people to be told when they are interacting with an AI system. We label chatbots clearly and give a route to a human. Check with your lawyer which dates apply to you.
• Automated decisions. GDPR has specific rules on decisions that significantly affect people and are made only by automated means. We keep a person in the loop for those.
• Supervision. Spain has a dedicated AI supervisory agency, AESIA. Watch its guidance if your use case could be higher risk.

We do not give legal advice. We do keep a short record of what data goes where, which tools process it and what is logged, so your adviser can review it.

Keep the paper trail short but real. A one-page record of the data each tool sees, where it is stored and how long it is kept makes any later review much faster, whether it comes from your lawyer, a customer or the AEPD.

Spanish-language quality is tested, not assumed

Modern models write good Spanish, but business content has quirks: Spain versus Latin American vocabulary, tú versus usted, and regional place names. We build a test set from your own messages and documents, in the register your customers use, and score the answers before launch. We also test refusals. A Spanish customer who asks something off-topic should get a polite redirect, not an invented answer. The test set includes questions the assistant must decline, and prompt injection attempts from users.

Spain is three and a half hours behind India in summer and four and a half in winter. Review sessions run in the Spanish morning, which is the Indian afternoon. Many Spanish teams are away for lunch from 14:00 to 16:00, so we avoid that gap.

Between steps, you get a short written update and a link to the current test results, so progress is visible without a meeting.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, and extra work is $30 an hour. The cost depends on how many systems the AI has to read from or write to, how much testing your content needs, and whether a human approval step is required. The fixed quote arrives within one working day of the call, from the contact page. Prices are in US dollars. Ask your gestor how IVA at 21% applies to a supplier outside the EU.
