SEO for the UK

SEO and AI search for UK businesses

Technical SEO, content and links for sites that target google.co.uk, plus the groundwork for AI search citations. Liftup has an office in Coventry, and reporting comes from your own Search Console.

In short

Liftup Technologies provides SEO and AI search optimization for UK businesses, working remotely from India with an office in Coventry. Technical fixes come first, then content and links. The work reflects UK specifics: Companies Act website details, differences between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, PECR and the DMCC Act. Results come from your own Google Search Console. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

Website details the UK expects

Trust and compliance overlap on a UK site. Limited companies are generally expected to show certain details on their website, and online sellers have their own information duties. Search engines and AI answer tools also like clear, consistent business facts. Check the exact wording with a solicitor. This is the list we would audit against.

  • Registered company name, company number, place of registration and registered office address.
  • A contact email address, not only a form, for businesses selling online.
  • A VAT number if you are VAT-registered, plus professional body details where relevant.
  • Prices shown to consumers including VAT, with delivery charges visible before checkout.
  • A privacy notice and a cookie banner that follows PECR.

The same facts, repeated identically in the footer, the contact page, Google Business Profile and structured data, help Google connect them to one business.

Four nations, four sets of content rules

UK law is not uniform, so a page written for England can be wrong for Scotland. This matters most in property, legal, tax and education content.

TopicWhere it differsWhat it means for pages
Property purchase taxEngland and Northern Ireland use Stamp Duty Land Tax, Scotland uses Land and Buildings Transaction Tax, Wales uses Land Transaction TaxName the right tax on each regional page and do not reuse one calculator
Selling a homeScotland has its own selling process, including a home reportWrite a separate guide rather than a find-and-replace
LanguageWelsh-language content is expected by some audiences in WalesAdd cy-GB pages only if you can maintain them well
Courts and complaintsScotland has a separate legal systemCheck legal wording with a Scottish adviser

For local businesses, structure works better by town and postcode area than by nation. The next section shows an example.

A worked example: page structure for a multi-branch service firm

Take a made-up electrician with branches in Coventry, Leicester and Birmingham. This is an illustration, not a client.

Page typeExampleCreate it when
Branch pageElectrician in Coventry, with address, hours, team, map, local jobsThere is a real branch or staffed area
Service pageEICR testing, with the process and what an inspection report showsThe service has its own search demand
Town pageElectrician in NuneatonThe firm regularly works there and can show jobs and reviews from the area
Postcode-area pageElectrician CV1 to CV6Only as a section of the branch page, not a page for every code

Each branch also needs its own Google Business Profile. Our local SEO service sets those up and keeps the details in line.

PECR, the DMCC Act and your SEO programme

  • PECR covers cookies and electronic marketing. Outreach emails to companies are treated differently from emails to sole traders and partnerships, who count as individuals. Link-building outreach should identify the sender and offer an opt-out.
  • The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 banned fake reviews and hidden fees and gave the CMA power to fine firms directly for consumer law breaches. Keep review markup honest, and show the full price on category and product pages.
  • The Advertising Standards Authority applies its codes to claims on websites. Testimonials and results need evidence you can produce.
  • Overseas access to personal data is a restricted transfer under UK GDPR. We use the ICO's transfer agreement or the UK addendum, as set out on our UK AI page.

Cost, VAT and our related work

We do not publish prices for our own work. Request a fixed quote on the contact page and it follows a short call. As market data, the Clutch SEO pricing guide reports hourly rates of $100 to $149. A block of 40 hours a month at those rates is $4,000 to $5,960. The Ahrefs survey says the most common agency band is $501 to $1,000 a month. These are US dollars.

Convert at the invoice-date rate. UK VAT is 20%. A VAT-registered UK business buying services from an overseas supplier normally accounts for the VAT through the reverse charge and reclaims it. If you are not VAT-registered, ask your accountant how it applies.

For an example of our search and marketing work on an app, see the ADDA case study, which reports a 40% rise in app downloads and a 35% rise in active users.

Working with a UK team across the time gap

UK clocks went back on 25 October 2026, so a 10:00 call in the UK is 15:30 in India until late March, then 14:30. Mornings are the shared window. Every month you receive a report built from your own Google Search Console data: queries, clicks, impressions and indexed pages, with a note on what changed.

Questions, answered

Do I need a .co.uk domain?
It is a clear local signal, and many UK searchers recognise it. A .com with UK pricing, a UK address and en-GB tags can also rank. Pick the one that fits your brand and who controls the domain.
Should I write in British English?
Yes for UK customers. Use British spelling in titles, headings and body text, and check Search Console for the spelling your visitors actually type.
Do I need separate pages for Scotland and Wales?
Only where law, tax or language differs. Property, legal and tax topics usually need them. A general product page does not.
Can you build links in the UK?
We build links through link building work such as sector directories, partnerships and useful resources. We follow PECR for outreach. No one can promise a particular ranking.
Do you have a UK office?
Yes, in Coventry, alongside the head office in Pune and an office in New York. Most work happens remotely.
