In short

Liftup Technologies provides ecommerce SEO for webshops in the Netherlands, working remotely from India. We fix category and product templates, structured data and faceted navigation, write Dutch-language category copy, and align product feeds for Google Shopping. Results are reported from your Search Console, and a fixed quote follows a short call within one working day.

The Dutch shop problem: Bol.com in the results

Dutch shoppers often start a product search on Bol.com or compare prices before buying. That means a small webshop competes in Google with a marketplace that has thousands of reviews and a fast checkout. Winning there does not mean copying the marketplace. It means ranking for the searches where a specialist shop is the better answer: narrow categories, advice, bundles, local delivery and expertise.

We start by mapping which searches your shop can realistically win, and which are better served by selling on the marketplace as a second channel. The plan then puts effort where a specialist can rank.

Reviews help here. Genuine customer reviews, shown with correct markup, give a specialist shop a trust signal that a bare product page lacks. We never write or buy reviews.

What we fix on a Dutch store

Page typeTypical issueWhat we change
Category pagesThin intro text, English names, duplicate sorted versionsDutch headings and copy, clean canonical URLs, sort and filter rules
Product pagesMissing price, stock or review data in markupProduct schema with price, currency, availability and return policy
FiltersThousands of crawlable filter URLsOnly filters with search demand are indexable
Out-of-stock itemsDeleted pages that return errorsRedirect or keep the page with alternatives
FeedsFeed prices differ from page pricesOne data source for site, feed and markup

The category-first approach matters because Dutch buyers search generic terms in Dutch, such as the product type plus kopen, before they look at a brand.

Dutch product naming also needs care. Shoppers use a mix of Dutch and English terms for the same item, and the common spelling may differ from the manufacturer's. We check variants in Search Console data and use the winning form in titles, headings and image file names, while keeping manufacturer names intact so brand searches still match.

Prices, btw and the 14-day return right

Consumer prices in the Netherlands are shown including btw, which is 21% for most goods and 9% for a reduced list. Product markup and Google Merchant Center feeds should carry the same price a shopper sees at checkout, or Google may flag a mismatch. Business buyers often want ex-btw prices, so we plan a clear toggle or a separate business view.

EU consumers have a 14-day right to withdraw from most online purchases. Return and shipping information belongs on the product page and in the Merchant Center settings. The Dutch consumer authority ACM publishes guidance for online sellers, and your lawyer should confirm the wording of your terms.

Language, domain and Belgium

Most Dutch shops sell in Dutch. Selling to Flanders as well is common, and the same Dutch pages can serve it, with nl-BE hreflang only where prices, delivery or legal text actually differ. A .nl domain, managed by SIDN, is the default choice for shops that stay local. A shop that wants to sell across Europe may prefer a .com with country folders. We cover the setup in international SEO.

How the work runs

We begin with a crawl and a Search Console review, then fix templates before writing content, since template fixes lift hundreds of pages at once. The Netherlands is 3.5 to 4.5 hours behind India, so reviews are held in your morning. A written update follows each phase, and monthly reporting uses your own data. The store owner keeps all accounts.

If your shop runs on Shopify, our Shopify SEO page covers platform-specific fixes. The country overview is on the Netherlands SEO page.

Peak seasons matter in this market. Sinterklaas on 5 December and the run to Christmas, Black Friday in late November, and summer holiday periods change what people search for. Seasonal landing pages should stay on one permanent URL each year, so earlier links and history keep working.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. The size of the catalog, the number of languages and the state of the platform move the price most. Our ecommerce SEO cost guide lists the drivers. We do not promise a ranking or a revenue figure, and we say so in the quote.

Questions, answered

Can a small shop compete with Bol.com?
On narrow categories, expert advice and specific product types, yes. On broad generic terms a marketplace is hard to beat, so we aim at searches where a specialist is the better answer.
Should I also sell on Bol.com?
It is a business decision. Many shops use it as a second channel while building their own SEO. We can keep product data consistent across both.
Do you work with Dutch-language category copy?
Yes. We write the structure and draft copy, and you or a native editor approve it. Search Console data guides the wording.
Do I need hreflang if I only sell in the Netherlands?
Not for a single Dutch site. You need it when you add an English version or a nl-BE section.
How do you report progress?
From your Google Search Console and Merchant Center, with notes on what changed. You keep access to everything.
