In short

Liftup Technologies provides ecommerce SEO for UK online stores, working remotely from India with an office in Coventry. The work covers category and filter structure, product page content, structured data for price, shipping and returns, Google Merchant Center feed checks, and a content plan tied to the UK retail calendar. Progress is reported from your own Search Console. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

Where UK store rankings are usually won and lost

In UK ecommerce, the money pages are category pages, not blog posts. Shoppers search for things like waterproof jackets, kitchen worktops or dog beds, and Google shows category pages and Shopping results. Many stores have thin category text, hundreds of filter URLs that dilute ranking, and product pages copied from the supplier.

Our first month focuses on these three issues. We map the search demand to your catalogue, decide which filter pages deserve to be indexed, and write product and category copy that uses the words UK buyers type. Terms differ from the US: trainers not sneakers, jumper not sweater, hoover as an everyday word, wardrobe and worktop instead of closet and countertop.

Product data that Google and AI tools can trust

UK price display has a specific rule for feeds. Google Merchant Center expects prices for the UK to include VAT, so the number in your feed, on the page and in product schema should match. When they do not, products get disapproved or flagged. We check all three.

Data pointWhat we checkWhy it matters
Price and currencyGBP, VAT included, same on page, schema and feedPrevents mismatch warnings in Merchant Center
Shipping detailsDelivery cost and handling time in markup and in the feedShows up in listings and builds trust
Returns policyReturn window and cost in structured dataSupports the 14-day cancellation message shoppers expect
Stock statusIn stock, out of stock and back-order values kept liveAvoids a click to a sold-out product
IdentifiersGTINs and brand where they existRequired for many product listings

Details are in Google's own documentation on product structured data and Merchant Center, and we follow it. See technical SEO for UK sites for crawl and speed work.

A UK retail calendar for content and category work

The UK year has its own rhythm, and search interest builds weeks before each peak. Pages need to exist, be indexed and have links before the peak, not during it.

MomentWhat to prepareWhen
Mothering Sunday (March)Gift category pages; note the date differs from US Mother's DaySix weeks before
Easter and bank holidaysDelivery cut-off banners, DIY and garden rangesFour to six weeks before
Back to school (late summer)Uniform, stationery and tech pagesFrom July
Black Friday (late November)One permanent sale URL, updated yearlyLive by October
Christmas and Boxing DayGift guides, last order dates, January sale pageFrom September

Keep seasonal URLs permanent. A fresh page every Black Friday starts with zero history, while one updated page keeps its links.

Rules that touch store SEO in the UK

  • Consumer law. Reviews must be genuine. The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act covers fake reviews and pricing practices, so review schema should reflect real feedback only. Check details with your adviser.
  • Cookies and analytics. PECR requires consent for non-essential cookies, which can reduce the traffic your analytics records. We report from Search Console as well, which does not depend on cookies.
  • Accessibility. Alt text, readable filters and keyboard use help disabled shoppers, and also give search engines cleaner pages.
  • Delivery pages. Northern Ireland, the Highlands and offshore islands often have different delivery terms. State them clearly, as shoppers search for them.

None of these are legal advice. We flag what we see, and your solicitor decides the wording.

How the work runs and what it costs

We work from India, which means UK mornings are Indian afternoons: 10:00 in London is 15:30 in Pune in winter, or 14:30 in summer. You get a monthly plan, a short weekly note and a monthly call. Results are shown from your Search Console, Merchant Center and sales data, never from a dashboard you cannot check.

Projects start at $1,500 and extra work is billed at $30 an hour. Catalogue size, how many categories need new copy, filter complexity and platform limits all move the price. Our ecommerce SEO cost guide breaks it down, and the ecommerce SEO service page has the full scope. Related pillar: UK SEO.

Questions, answered

How long does ecommerce SEO take to work for a UK store?
Technical and feed fixes can show within weeks. Category rankings usually take several months, depending on competition and the size of your catalogue. We do not promise a date.
Do you work on Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento?
Yes. We work across Shopify, WooCommerce and other platforms, and we adjust advice to what each platform allows.
Should prices in my feed include VAT?
For the UK, Google Merchant Center expects prices to include VAT. Confirm in the current Merchant Center help, and make sure the page and schema show the same figure.
Can you help with Google Shopping?
We fix feed quality and product data, which supports free listings and paid Shopping. Paid campaign management is a separate scope.
Do I need a UK address for local search?
Only if you run physical locations. For an online-only store, focus on category, product and delivery content.
Do we own the content you write?
Yes. All copy, briefs and reports are yours.
