In short

Liftup Technologies builds custom web applications for Austrian companies, working remotely from India. Typical projects are customer portals, booking and quoting tools, dashboards and early SaaS products. We scope the first release, build it in short cycles, host it where you choose and hand over the code. A fixed quote follows a short call.

Where a custom web app beats off-the-shelf software

Standard software works until your process stops fitting it. Austrian companies usually reach that point in one of four places: a customer portal where clients see orders, documents and invoices; a quoting or configuration tool for products with many options; an internal tool that replaces a tangle of spreadsheets; or a software product the company wants to sell.

Before building, we check whether an existing tool plus a few automations would do. If it would, we say so. Our build or buy comparison uses the same logic, and the web app cost guide shows how scope drives price.

A fourth case is worth naming: a firm that already sells a service and wants to productize it. A Steuerberater who sends the same checklists to every client, or a trades business that books site visits by phone, can often turn the routine into a self-service portal that saves staff time.

A typical first release

PartWhat it includesAustrian detail
Accounts and rolesLogin, password reset, roles for staff, clients and adminsOptional two-factor login; roles reviewed against who may see which data
Core workflowThe one process the app exists for, end to endInterface in German, English optional; dates as 03.11.2026
DocumentsUpload, preview and download of PDFs and imagesInvoices and quotes laid out for Austrian business practice
NotificationsEmail and in-app messagesSent from your domain with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set
Admin areaUsers, settings, exports and an audit logLog retention follows your privacy policy
IntegrationsAccounting, CRM, payment or shipping APIsOften BMD, RZL or DATEV exports for accounting

A first release usually covers the core workflow and the admin area. Anything beyond that goes into a second release, which keeps the first quote small and the first launch quick.

Technology and hosting choices

We pick the stack for maintainability, not fashion. Common choices are Next.js or React on the front end, Node.js or Python on the server, and PostgreSQL for data. If your own team or another developer will take over, we choose tools they can hire for.

Hosting is your decision. Many Austrian clients prefer EU regions, and some want a server in Austria or Germany for contract reasons. We deploy to the provider you choose, document the setup, and put the accounts in your company's name. Data processing terms with each provider are listed for your records.

Performance is part of the stack choice too. Austrian users are often on mobile, sometimes with poor coverage, so we keep pages light and make key screens work with slow connections.

GDPR and security by design

A web app stores personal data by definition, so GDPR shapes the design. The Datenschutzbehörde supervises compliance in Austria. We keep a list of what personal data the app holds, who can see it, how long it is kept and how a person can ask for deletion. Encryption in transit is standard, passwords are hashed, and backups are tested.

If the app is used by employees, your Betriebsrat may need to be consulted before launch, because tools that can monitor staff behavior can fall under works agreements. Check this with your HR or legal adviser early.

We follow common security practice, but a pen test or a formal certification is a separate piece of work and is quoted on its own.

How the build runs

  1. Discovery workshopOne or two calls to map the process, the users and the data. You receive a written scope and a clickable mockup.
  2. Cycles of two weeksEach cycle ends with a working version on a staging link and a short recorded demo.
  3. Acceptance and launchYou test against the scope, we fix issues, then deploy and migrate existing data.
  4. Handover and supportCode in your repository, deployment notes, and a bug-fix period agreed in the quote.

We work from Pune with no office in Austria. A 10:00 call in Vienna is 13:30 or 14:30 for us. See the general web app development service page for more on the process.

Cost and ownership

Projects start at $1,500 and additional work is $30 an hour. Small tools sit near the lower end, while portals with payments, many roles and integrations take much longer. You own the code and the data from the first day, and you can stop at the end of any cycle.

Questions, answered

Can you build the first version as an MVP?
Yes. We cut the scope to the one workflow that proves the idea, ship it, and add features based on real use.
Can the app run on servers in Austria?
Yes, if a provider offers it. Many clients choose an EU region instead, and we document where data sits either way.
Do you provide the interface in German?
Yes. Text lives in language files, so German, English and other languages can be added or edited without code changes.
What if we need changes after launch?
We offer maintenance at $30 an hour or as a monthly plan, and the code is yours if you prefer another developer.
Can you take over an app someone else built?
Yes, after a short code review. We tell you what is sound, what is risky and what it would cost to fix.
