In short

Liftup Technologies builds and customizes Shopify stores for Austrian merchants, working remotely from India. A project covers theme setup or custom theme work, EUR pricing with USt included, local payment methods, shipping rules, Impressum and withdrawal pages, and migration from an older shop. You receive a fixed quote after a short call, and the store account stays in your name.

When Shopify fits an Austrian business

Shopify suits direct-to-consumer brands, specialist retailers, food and gift producers, and B2B sellers with a defined catalog. It is a good choice when you want a managed platform with checkout, apps and updates handled for you. It is less suitable for very custom pricing logic or complex ERP-driven catalogs, where WooCommerce or a custom build may be a better match. Our Shopify and WooCommerce comparison goes through the trade-offs.

A common Austrian case is a producer in Styria or Tyrol who sells through a physical shop and wants a store that also ships to Germany. That needs Austria and Germany set up as separate selling areas, which we handle in the build.

Another typical case is a merchant moving from an older shop system or from a marketplace-only presence. Moving to Shopify means exporting products and customers, rebuilding the legal pages and preserving URLs, which we plan before touching anything. German copy needs care too: product titles, size charts and delivery notes should use words Austrians recognise.

What an Austrian Shopify build includes

AreaAustrian set-upNotes
Currency and taxEUR, prices shown including 20% USt for consumersTax settings checked with your Steuerberater
PaymentsCards, PayPal, Klarna, eps and SEPA options where availableAvailability depends on the provider and your account, so we confirm before design
ShippingAustrian and German rates, weight bands and pickup pointsCarrier choices vary by merchant
Legal pagesImpressum, AGB, Datenschutzerklärung, WiderrufsbelehrungText from your lawyer, placed and linked by us
LanguageGerman with Austrian wording, optional EnglishTranslation apps or native theme text
Checkout wordingOrder button, price breakdown and shipping notes in clear GermanChecked against your legal text

Payment method names change often. We verify what Shopify and your payment provider support for your account at the start, using the Shopify Help Center as a reference, not an assumption.

Theme, apps and speed

We prefer a clean theme with few apps. Every app adds scripts, and slow stores lose customers on mobile. We choose apps only when they replace custom work that would cost more to maintain, and we document each one so you know what you pay for.

Custom work includes product page changes, bundle and subscription logic, B2B price lists, and integrations with accounting or stock tools. For the general offer see Shopify development; for an audit-first approach to search see Shopify SEO in Austria.

We work in a development theme first, show it on a preview link each week and publish only after your approval. All theme code sits in a Git repository that you own, so another developer can continue the work later. Speed is checked with the Core Web Vitals check before and after launch, with mobile as the main target.

Legal and consumer points to settle early

  • Impressum: company name, address, contact details, register number and VAT ID, as your lawyer defines.
  • Withdrawal: a 14-day right for most distance sales, with an information text and a model form available to the customer.
  • Price display: totals, shipping costs and USt shown before the customer commits.
  • Accessibility: online shops are a main target of the BaFG, which implements the European Accessibility Act from 28 June 2025. Ask your lawyer whether your size and offer fall in scope.
  • Data: Shopify apps may send customer data abroad, so each app is reviewed for your privacy policy.

None of these items is hard on its own. The common mistakes are small: a footer link missing at checkout, shipping costs shown too late, or a privacy policy that does not mention an app. We run a short pre-launch review for exactly these.

Remote delivery and cost

A store build is run by one lead with weekly demos. Meetings are held in Vienna's morning, which is 13:30 or 14:30 in India depending on the season. We are in Pune, with no office in Austria. After launch, you own the store, the theme code and the domain.

Projects start at $1,500, and additional work is $30 an hour. Catalog size, custom features and migration scope move the quote. See the Shopify store cost guide and the Shopify launch checklist.

Handover includes a recorded walkthrough of products, orders, discount codes and the legal pages, so your team can run the store without us.

Questions, answered

Can Shopify handle eps payments?
It depends on the payment provider and your account. We check the current options for your business at the start and test them in sandbox before launch.
How do I show prices including USt?
Shopify has tax-inclusive price settings. We configure them for Austria and check the product pages, cart and checkout with you.
Can you migrate my existing shop?
Yes. We move products, customers where permitted, and set 301 redirects so search rankings are kept.
Is the store in German only?
No, we can run German and English, with Austrian wording in the German version. Extra languages are added with hreflang.
Do I pay Shopify through you?
No. You hold the Shopify subscription and apps directly. We charge only for our work.
Can the store sell to Germany and Switzerland too?
Yes, with a separate market for each. Germany shares the euro and EU consumer rules, while Switzerland has its own currency, VAT and customs, so it needs more planning.
