In short

Liftup Technologies builds iOS and Android apps for businesses in the Netherlands, working remotely from India. Most projects use React Native or Flutter to cover both platforms with one team, with Dutch and English localization, iDEAL-ready payment flows and AVG-conscious data handling. After a short call you receive a fixed quote within one working day, and projects start at $1,500.

Who builds an app in the Netherlands, and why

The Netherlands has a high rate of smartphone use, and Dutch users are comfortable doing banking, shopping and booking on a phone. Companies come to us with a clear job for the app: a booking tool for a clinic group, a field-service app for installers, a loyalty app for a retailer, or a companion to an existing web platform.

Not every idea needs a store app. If the audience is small or the content is mostly reading, a web app or a progressive web app can be cheaper to run. Our PWA vs native app comparison helps decide. If the answer is a full app, we plan a first release that does one job well.

Typical sectors we hear from include healthcare providers with appointment tools, logistics firms with driver apps, retailers adding loyalty, and software companies adding a mobile client to an existing web product. Each has different rules for data and uptime, so the first week is spent on those constraints rather than on screens.

Choosing the technology

OptionBest forTrade-off
React NativeTeams that also have a React web appSome device features need native modules
FlutterCustom visual design on both platformsLarger app size, own widget system
Native Swift and KotlinHeavy use of camera, Bluetooth or background tasksTwo code bases and higher cost
Progressive web appSimple tools, no store listing neededLimited access to device features, especially on iPhone

For most Dutch business apps we recommend React Native or Flutter, since one team can ship to the App Store and Google Play together. We also build the API behind the app when you do not have one.

Offline behaviour deserves an early decision. Field staff in cellars, warehouses or rural areas lose signal, so the app may need to store entries locally and sync later. That changes the data design and the testing, and it is far cheaper to plan before the first build than to add afterwards.

Dutch details inside the app

  • Language: Dutch and English strings from day one, with number, date and euro formats that follow Dutch conventions.
  • Payments: iDEAL normally sends the user to their bank app and back, so the return flow must be tested on real devices. Providers such as Mollie, Adyen and Stripe supply the SDKs. The European move from iDEAL to Wero should be confirmed with your provider before you plan the checkout.
  • Privacy: Apple and Google both ask what data the app collects. We prepare the answers from the real code, and the AVG notice inside the app should match them.
  • Accessibility: screen reader labels, dynamic text sizes and contrast. The European Accessibility Act covers some consumer services delivered through apps, so ask your lawyer whether you are in scope.
  • Notifications: ask for permission at a moment that makes sense, and explain why. Marketing messages need consent.

Store release and the first 90 days

Release is a project of its own. We prepare store listings in Dutch and English, screenshots, privacy details and test accounts for reviewers. Apple and Google can reject an app for unclear login steps or a missing deletion option, so we plan for review time rather than assuming a day.

After launch, we watch crash reports and early reviews, fix the top issues first, and plan the second release from real usage. Analytics should respect consent; where you track users, the app needs an opt-in screen.

We also set up crash reporting and a simple release routine: a staging build for your team, a phased rollout in the stores, and a rollback plan. Updates to the operating systems arrive every autumn, so budget a small yearly amount for compatibility work.

How we work from India

  1. Short callGoal, users, platforms and existing systems. Booked in your morning, our afternoon.
  2. Fixed quoteA scope for the first release, with a price within one working day.
  3. Sprint demosTest builds delivered through TestFlight and Google Play internal testing, with a weekly walkthrough.
  4. Release and handoverStore accounts, code and signing keys stay in your name.

The Netherlands is 3.5 hours behind India in summer and 4.5 hours in winter. We schedule reviews inside that overlap, and one lead stays on the project.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. A simple companion app is at the low end; features such as payments, offline mode, maps, real-time chat or a back office raise the price. Developer account fees paid to Apple and Google are separate. See the mobile app development service and the web app cost guide for how scope moves cost. The country overview is on the Netherlands web page.

Questions, answered

Should I build for iPhone first or both platforms?
Often both, using React Native or Flutter. If your users are mostly on one platform, start there. We look at your audience before recommending.
Can the app take iDEAL payments?
Yes, through a payment provider's SDK or a web checkout inside the app. We test the bank app return flow on real phones.
Do you handle App Store and Google Play submission?
Yes. We prepare listings, privacy answers and review notes, and submit from your developer accounts.
Will the app be in Dutch?
Yes, with English as a second language if needed. You or a native editor approve the wording.
Who owns the source code?
You do, along with the store accounts, signing keys and backend.
