In short

Liftup Technologies provides technical SEO for Norwegian websites, working remotely from India. We audit crawling, indexing, speed, structured data and hreflang nb-NO, handle Norwegian character issues in URLs, check consent scripts against Datatilsynet's expectations, and deliver prioritised tickets or fix them ourselves. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

What a technical audit finds on Norwegian sites

The same issues come up again and again. Sites carry duplicate versions of a page, such as with and without a trailing slash, or in both English and Norwegian without language tags. Faceted filters create thousands of near-identical URLs. A cookie banner blocks content or shifts the layout. Old redirects form chains. None of these show in a quick visual check.

Our audit crawls the site the way Googlebot does, compares it with what Search Console reports as indexed, and ranks the fixes by effect and effort. You receive a short list of what to do first, not a 200-row spreadsheet.

Our technical SEO checklist shows the full list, and the Core Web Vitals checklist covers speed.

Speed on Norwegian mobile networks

Mobile coverage and speeds are good in Norwegian towns, but not everywhere. Visitors on a ferry, in a mountain valley or in a rural area still hit slow connections. Core Web Vitals field data in Search Console reflects the real range of your visitors, so a site that is fast in the office may still score poorly.

We look at the largest contentful paint element, interaction delay and layout shift on real pages, then reduce images, scripts and fonts. You can test a page yourself with our Core Web Vitals check.

Structured data and rich results

Structured data tells search engines what a page is about and can enable richer results, such as product details and breadcrumbs. We check that the markup is valid, matches the visible page and uses the right type for each template. Local firms add address and opening hours, and stores add price in NOK and availability.

We avoid markup for content that is not on the page. A missing or misleading property can be ignored, or in the worst case lead to a manual action. Our schema markup checklist lists what we validate.

Privacy rules that affect technical work

Norway applies the GDPR through the Personal Data Act, supervised by Datatilsynet, and cookie consent comes from the Electronic Communications Act. This shapes tag set-up: analytics and marketing tags should wait for consent, third-party fonts and embeds should load only when allowed, and server logs may hold personal data such as IP addresses.

We document each script on the site, what data it sends and where, and mark which ones need consent. Your lawyer decides the legal basis, and we make the site behave accordingly.

Server-side measurement is one option when consent reduces client-side data. It must follow the same consent choices, so it complements a consent banner and does not replace it.

How the work runs

  1. Crawl and baselineA full crawl, Search Console review and a list of indexed versus intended pages.
  2. Prioritised reportFixes grouped by effect, with example URLs and plain-language reasons.
  3. ImplementationEither tickets for your developers or direct changes in your CMS, depending on access.
  4. Verify and monitorRe-crawl after each release and track indexing, errors and speed in Search Console.

We work remotely from India. Norway is 4 hours 30 minutes behind India in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes behind in summer, so a Norwegian developer can ask a question in the morning and read our answer after lunch.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, and our rate is $30 an hour. Site size, platform and the amount of implementation move the price. For a smaller first step, see our SEO audit service. The full method is on our technical SEO service page, and our SEO audit cost guide gives the usual drivers. A fixed quote follows a short call.

Questions, answered

Do you need access to our server?
Not for the audit. For fixes, we need access to your CMS, theme or repository, or we hand your developer clear tickets.
Can you fix JavaScript rendering problems?
We diagnose them and recommend server-side rendering or pre-rendering where needed. We can implement the change if your site runs on Next.js or similar.
How do we know the fixes worked?
Search Console shows indexing, errors and Core Web Vitals trends. We report the before and after for each fix.
Is hreflang needed for a Norwegian-only site?
Not if you have one language version. It matters when you also run English or another version, or sell in other countries.
How long does an audit take?
A small site is a matter of days, while large stores take longer. The timeline is stated in the fixed quote.
Do you also handle XML sitemaps and robots files?
Yes. We check that sitemaps list only canonical, indexable pages and that the robots file blocks only what it should.
