AI for the UK
AI development and automation for UK businesses
AI agents, chatbots and automations for companies across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Most of the work happens remotely, and Liftup also has an office in Coventry.
In short
Liftup Technologies builds AI agents, chatbots and automations for UK businesses from Pune, with an office in Coventry. The UK has no single AI Act, so each project is checked against UK GDPR, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 and the rules of the sector regulator that would ask questions about it. You get a fixed quote after a short call.
No AI Act, so who asks the questions
The UK has so far relied on existing regulators rather than one AI statute, and the government's approach could change, so ask your lawyer to confirm the position at the time you start. In practice, the regulator that matters is whoever already oversees your business.
| Regulator | Covers | A question it could ask about your AI |
|---|---|---|
| ICO | Personal data under UK GDPR and electronic marketing under PECR | What data does the model see, where does it go, and can a person challenge a decision about them |
| FCA | Financial services firms | Does the chatbot stay on information rather than advice, and is the customer treated fairly, including vulnerable customers |
| CMA | Consumer protection and competition | Could a customer be misled by what the bot says, or by fake or AI-written reviews |
| ASA | Advertising codes | Are claims made by an AI sales assistant backed by evidence |
| EHRC | Equality law | Does an automated screening step treat people with protected characteristics worse |
Not every project meets all five. A chatbot on a plumbing firm's site mostly meets the ICO and consumer law. A bot for a mortgage broker meets the FCA as well.
Data protection after the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025
UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 remain the base. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 amends them, and its provisions switch on in stages. Three changes are relevant to AI work. The rules on solely automated decisions were reshaped, giving more room to use them if safeguards such as human review on request are in place. Some low-risk analytics cookies no longer need consent. PECR penalties were raised towards UK GDPR levels. Check the current commencement status before relying on any of them.
India does not have a UK adequacy decision. For work done from India, the usual tools are the ICO's International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, backed by a short transfer risk assessment. We prefer to build on masked data and keep production records in a UK or EU region of your cloud account, so the transfer question stays small.
A worked example: five checks for a broker's enquiry bot
Picture a made-up regional mortgage broker that wants a bot to answer product questions and collect an enquiry. This is an illustration, not a client.
- Stay on the right side of the line. The bot explains what a product is and gathers facts. Anything that sounds like a recommendation goes to a qualified adviser. Whether a given sentence counts as advice is a question for the firm's compliance lead.
- Keep a record. Every conversation is stored with a time stamp for as long as your retention rule says, so a complaint can be answered.
- Spot vulnerable customers. Words that signal bereavement, debt trouble or confusion trigger a human call-back rather than another bot reply.
- Be open about the AI. A notice at the start of the chat, and a privacy statement that explains what the bot collects and why.
- Test before launch. Run 50 or so past enquiries through the bot and have a compliance person mark each reply as acceptable, borderline or not allowed.
The same five checks work for a solicitor, an estate agent or a clinic, with the sector rules swapped in.
A day across two clocks
India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year. UK clocks went back to Greenwich Mean Time on 25 October 2026 and go forward again on the last Sunday of March. The table converts typical UK meeting times.
| UK time | India, UK on GMT (winter) | India, UK on BST (summer) |
|---|---|---|
| 8:00 | 13:30 | 12:30 |
| 9:00 | 14:30 | 13:30 |
| 10:00 | 15:30 | 14:30 |
| 12:00 | 17:30 | 16:30 |
| 13:00 | 18:30 | 17:30 |
Calls before 13:00 UK time sit inside an Indian working day. Later than that, plan on written updates.
Pounds, VAT and market ranges
We do not publish prices for our own work. Request a fixed quote on the contact page and it follows a short call. As market data only, the Clutch AI pricing guide says AI projects typically cost $10,000 to $49,999, with an average of $120,595, in US dollars.
Sterling moves against the dollar, so convert at the rate on the day you pay. UK VAT is 20%. A VAT-registered UK business that buys services from an overseas supplier normally accounts for the VAT through the reverse charge and reclaims it, which often nets to nothing. If you are not VAT-registered, ask your accountant how overseas purchases are treated, because the answer is different.
When an offshore team is not the right fit
If your procurement rules say that only UK-based staff may see production data, we are the wrong fit for the parts that touch it. We can still build on masked data and hand over for you to deploy. If you want someone on site every week, hire locally. Where our model does suit you is when the build can be specified in writing and reviewed remotely. The page on AI consulting explains how a first scoping call works.
