WordPress SEO services that start with a plugin audit
WordPress gives you total control over SEO, which is also how sites end up with thirty plugins, three caching layers and tag pages nobody asked for.
In short
WordPress SEO is the work of configuring and cleaning a WordPress site so search engines can crawl and rank it. It covers permalinks, archive and attachment pages, the SEO plugin, page builder weight, caching, image handling, schema and content. Liftup fixes technical causes first, then content and links, and reports from your Search Console.
Why WordPress SEO needs its own approach
WordPress powers everything from a five-page brochure to a large publisher, and the SEO problems differ by build. Two things are common to nearly all of them: the site accumulates features over the years, and each feature adds code, URLs or database queries.
So we start by subtracting. Before adding any optimization, we ask what the site generates that it should not: empty archive pages, attachment URLs for every image, duplicate category and tag listings, and scripts from plugins that no longer do anything visible.
What we change on a WordPress site
| Area | Default behavior | Our usual change |
|---|---|---|
| Permalinks | Plain or date-based URLs on older sites | Short readable paths with redirects from the old ones |
| Attachment pages | Every uploaded image can get its own page | Redirect to the parent post or the file |
| Tag and author archives | Thin pages, often indexed | Noindex on archives that add nothing; keep useful ones |
| SEO plugin | Two plugins fighting over titles and schema | One plugin, one set of rules, chosen after comparing Yoast and Rank Math |
| Page builder output | Deeply nested markup and large CSS | Trim unused widgets, load styles only where used |
| Caching and images | Several caching plugins, full-size uploads | One caching layer, modern image formats, correct dimensions |
| Comments and spam | Open comments with spam links | Close, moderate or remove on old posts |
We make these changes on a staging copy first, test the main templates, and only then apply them to the live site. WordPress updates and plugin changes can break layouts in ways a crawl will not show, so a person looks at the pages.
The one-plugin-per-job rule
A plugin audit decides whether each plugin earns its place. We list what it does, which pages it loads on, how much it adds to page weight and whether something already in WordPress or your theme does the same job.
- Keep one SEO plugin, one cache plugin and one security plugin. Two of any kind usually conflict.
- Remove plugins that were installed for a campaign and never switched off.
- Replace plugins that add front-end code for a single button with a few lines in the theme.
- Check that deactivated plugins are also deleted, since old code and database tables remain a security risk.
- Keep a written record of why each remaining plugin is installed.
Our WordPress security checklist covers the security side of the same cleanup.

Who it is for, and who it is not
It suits businesses with an existing WordPress or WooCommerce site that has grown by accident: service companies, publishers, stores and nonprofits. It suits sites that want to stay on WordPress.
It does not suit a site where the platform itself is the problem. If you need app-like behavior or editing speed that WordPress cannot give, we will say so and point you to WordPress development or a move to another platform. We would rather lose the SEO job than keep patching the wrong foundation.
Related work, timeline and reporting
Liftup designed and built the WordPress and WooCommerce store for A'YUCO, which sells ceremonial matcha. The store had to teach new buyers why matcha, how to prepare it and which kit to start with, so page purpose and content structure were central. That was a build rather than an SEO engagement, and we do not attach traffic results to it.
Cleanup usually takes three to five weeks. Content and link work then runs monthly. Reports use your own Google Search Console data: clicks, impressions, indexed pages and top queries, with a list of what was changed.
We give a fixed quote after a short call, based on page count, plugins and the amount of content. Ask for a proposal.
