AI for the USA

AI development and automation for US businesses

AI agents, chatbots, voice agents and automations for companies in any state. Liftup has an office in New York, and most of the work is done remotely with an overnight handoff.

In short

Liftup Technologies builds AI agents, chatbots, voice agents and automations for US businesses, working remotely from Pune with an office in New York. The US has no single federal AI or privacy law, so each project is mapped to the state laws, the TCPA for calls and any sector rules such as HIPAA that apply. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

No federal AI law, so here is the map

In the United States the rules come from states, from sector laws and from general consumer protection enforced by the Federal Trade Commission. The FTC has said that false claims about what an AI product can do are deceptive in the same way as any other false claim. The table lists the laws that come up most often in AI projects. Dates in this area change quickly, so treat it as a starting list for your lawyer, not advice.

LawWhere it appliesWhy it matters for an AI build
CCPA and CPRACalifornia residentsNotice, opt-out and access rights; the state privacy agency has adopted rules on automated decision-making tools with phased start dates
California bot disclosure lawCaliforniaA bot used to influence a purchase must not hide that it is a bot
Colorado AI ActColoradoDuties for high-risk systems that make major decisions about people; the start date has been moved before, so check status
Utah AI Policy ActUtahDisclosure when someone asks if they are talking to an AI, and stricter rules in regulated professions
Texas AI governance lawTexasLimits on certain harmful uses of AI and rules for government use
Illinois BIPAIllinoisWritten consent before collecting voiceprints or face scans, which matters for voice agents

Voice agents and the TCPA

The Federal Communications Commission ruled in 2024 that AI-generated voices count as artificial voices under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). In plain terms, an AI voice agent that phones or texts people needs the same prior consent as a robocall. Fines are per call, so a sloppy list can become expensive fast. This is the checklist we would work through before building an outbound agent.

  • Consent. Written consent for marketing calls, stored with the date, source and wording the person saw.
  • Disclosure. The agent says it is an AI in the first sentence.
  • Hours. Calls only between 8:00 and 21:00 in the recipient's time zone, which means the agent has to know the zone of every number.
  • Opt-out. A spoken stop word works at any point, and the number goes onto a suppression list immediately.
  • Records. Call logs and consent evidence are kept for as long as your lawyer advises.
  • Inbound is simpler. A voice agent that only answers calls people place to you does not raise the consent problem, though recording and privacy notices still apply.

Three questions that decide which laws apply

  1. Whose data is it?State privacy laws follow the resident, not your office. A Texas company with California customers owes California rights.
  2. What does the AI decide?Answering questions is low risk. Approving loans, screening applicants or setting prices triggers the strictest rules.
  3. What sector are you in?Health, finance, education and children's services each add their own law on top of the state map.

We ask these on the first call. Many projects end up with a short list of two or three laws, not eight.

US mornings, Indian evenings

India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year. US clocks go back on the first Sunday of November, which is 1 November this year, so until then the US is on daylight time. The table shows what 8:00 in the morning on your side looks like in India.

Your zone8:00 local, US daylight time8:00 local, US standard time
Eastern17:30 in India18:30 in India
Central18:30 in India19:30 in India
Mountain19:30 in India20:30 in India
Pacific20:30 in India21:30 in India

Live overlap is small and falls late in the Indian day, so most of the work is asynchronous. The benefit runs the other way: what is built during the Indian working day is waiting for you when your morning starts. We suggest one scheduled call a week, written progress notes, and a shared channel for questions.

Dollars, tax forms and how to read the market range

We do not publish prices for our own work. You get a fixed quote after a short call; start from the contact page. For market context, the Clutch AI pricing guide reports that AI projects typically cost $10,000 to $49,999, with an average of $120,595.

Notice how far the average sits above the typical band. A handful of very large projects pull it up. For a first chatbot or automation, the typical band is the more useful guide to budgeting. US businesses paying a foreign company usually collect a tax form such as the W-8BEN-E and should ask their accountant about sales tax on services in their state, which varies.

When a US-only vendor is the better choice

Some federal and defense contracts require US-based, sometimes US-citizen, staff. Some buyers insist on a team in their own time zone for weekly hands-on sessions. If either applies to you, we are not the right fit for the data-touching work. If the main concern is cost versus control, the page on offshore vs nearshore development lays out the trade-offs.

Questions, answered

Is there a federal AI law in the US?
Not a comprehensive one. Rules come from state laws, sector laws such as HIPAA, and FTC enforcement on deceptive claims. Check current status with a lawyer because state laws are changing quickly.
Can an AI voice agent make sales calls?
Only with the consent the TCPA requires, and with disclosure that it is an AI. Inbound calls from people who contacted you are simpler. We would check the consent trail before building an outbound agent.
Do you sign HIPAA business associate agreements?
We have not confirmed this for the page. If you handle patient data, raise it on the first call so the agreement and the data flow are settled before work starts.
Which time zone do you work in?
From India, so US mornings fall in the Indian evening. Work is mainly asynchronous with one weekly call and a handoff that has progress ready for the start of your day.
Do you have a US office?
Yes, in New York (NY 10001), alongside the head office in Pune and an office in Coventry in the UK. Most work happens remotely.
