AI for Sweden
AI development and automation for Swedish companies
AI agents, chatbots and workflow automation for companies in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Uppsala, planned around Swedish privacy law, union negotiation duties and the Swedish language.
In short
Liftup Technologies builds AI agents, chatbots and workflow automation for Swedish companies, working remotely from Pune. Projects account for GDPR and the regulator IMY, for the duty to negotiate with unions before major workplace changes, and for Swedish-language quality, which we test before launch. Call times fit Swedish mornings. You get a fixed quote after a short call.
Three Swedish points that change an AI project
Most of what makes a Swedish project different is not technical. These three points are worth settling before any build starts.
- Employee involvement. The Swedish codetermination act (MBL) requires an employer bound by a collective agreement to open negotiations with the union before deciding on important changes to the business. Automation that changes people's work can fall under it. This is the one most foreign vendors have never heard of.
- A strict regulator. The data protection authority is IMY (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten). In 2023 it fined Swedish companies over the use of an analytics tool that sent data to the United States, so expect close reading of any tool that moves personal data abroad.
- The language. Swedish is a smaller language for AI models than English. To our knowledge, AI Sweden and the National Library's KBLab have both published Swedish-language models, but quality in your domain still has to be tested, not assumed.
A worked example: automating invoice handling with the union in the loop
Take a made-up Swedish distributor that wants to read supplier invoices with AI and post them to the ledger. Two finance staff currently do this by hand. This is an illustration, not a client, and it is not legal advice. The order of events matters more than the dates.
| Step | Who acts | What happens | Output |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Scope | Company and us | Agree what the tool will and will not decide, and what staff do afterwards | One-page description of the change |
| 2. Notify | Company | Invite the union to negotiate before any decision to go ahead | Dated invitation and meeting notes |
| 3. Negotiate | Company and union | Discuss effects on roles, training and workload; length depends on the collective agreement | Recorded outcome |
| 4. Decide | Company | Confirm the go-ahead only after the negotiation is complete | Signed decision |
| 5. Build | Us | Start the first sprint on real invoices with a review queue for doubtful ones | Working pilot |
| 6. Review | Company and staff | Check accuracy and workload after a month and adjust | Written review |
The point for planning: our first sprint starts after step 4, not before it. If you tell us early that a negotiation is needed, we can use the waiting time for data access, test sets and the data-processing agreement.
GDPR, IMY and marketing rules
GDPR applies, supported by the Swedish Data Protection Act (dataskyddslagen). Cookie and tracking rules sit in the Electronic Communications Act, supervised by the Post and Telecom Authority (PTS). The Marketing Act and Konsumentverket, the Swedish Consumer Agency, govern what you may say to customers. If an AI voice agent will make outbound consumer calls, ask your lawyer how the telemarketing rules and the NIX-Telefon opt-out register apply before you build it.
India has no EU adequacy decision, so personal data viewed from our side relies on standard contractual clauses plus a short assessment of the destination. Where possible we build on masked data and keep real records inside your own EU cloud account. The same logic, with more detail, is on our Ireland AI page.
Call times that suit Sweden
Sweden follows the same clock as Denmark: UTC+1 in winter and UTC+2 in summer. India Standard Time is UTC+5:30 all year. Sweden returned to winter time on 25 October 2026. Here is what a handful of Swedish meeting times look like in India.
| Swedish time | India, Swedish summer time | India, Swedish winter time |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00 | 12:30 | 13:30 |
| 11:00 | 14:30 | 15:30 |
| 13:00 | 16:30 | 17:30 |
| 14:30 | 18:00 | 19:00 |
Anything after 14:30 in Sweden lands in the Indian evening, so we would plan workshops before lunch and leave afternoons for written reviews.
Kronor, moms and the cost of a falling exchange rate
We do not publish prices for our own work. You receive a fixed quote after a short call, which you can request on the contact page. For market context, the Clutch AI pricing guide reports that AI projects typically cost $10,000 to $49,999 and average $120,595, in US dollars.
Unlike the Danish krone, the Swedish krona floats freely, so currency risk is real. Take a project quoted in dollars at an illustrative rate of 10 kronor to the dollar, which is not a forecast. That is 100,000 kronor for a $10,000 project, and a 5% move in the rate shifts the bill by 5,000 kronor. Ask for the quote in the currency you budget in, or agree the rate at signing. Swedish VAT (moms) is 25%, and for a registered business buying services from outside the EU the usual route is reverse charge, which often nets to nothing. Confirm with your accountant.
When you can skip a custom build
If your accounting runs in Fortnox or Visma, check whether invoice reading is already built in before commissioning anything. If you only need transcription of Swedish meetings, a ready-made service may be enough. We are useful when the process crosses several systems, when answers must come from your own documents, or when no off-the-shelf tool passes your Swedish test set.

Automation is priced per workflow, not per tool. Work out the hours it saves first, and the price becomes a decision you can check.
