In short
Liftup Technologies builds custom web applications for Australian businesses, working remotely from India. The scope covers requirements, interface design, a Next.js or React front end, a database and API, secure login and role control, integrations and deployment. After a short call you receive a fixed quote within one working day, and you review working software every week.
When a web app beats a spreadsheet or an off-the-shelf tool
Australian firms come to us when a shared spreadsheet has grown past what two people can safely maintain, or when a packaged tool does most of the job but not the one step that matters. Typical builds are client portals for accountants and advisers, job and quote tools for trades and builders, booking and intake systems for clinics, and dashboards that join data from several systems.
A custom app is not always right. If a subscription product covers 90% of what you need, buying it is cheaper. We tell you that on the first call and describe what a thin custom layer on top could do instead.
Requirements that are particular to Australia
| Requirement | What it means for the build | How we handle it |
|---|---|---|
| GST and tax invoices | Totals, GST lines and ABN on quotes and invoices | Tax logic written once, tested against examples your accountant supplies |
| Privacy Act 1988 | Personal information collected, stored and shared by the app | Collection notice, role-based access, audit trail, deletion process |
| Notifiable data breaches | A breach likely to cause serious harm may need reporting to the OAIC | Logging and alerting so a breach can be detected and scoped |
| Accessibility | DDA 1992 applies to services; WCAG 2.2 AA is the usual target | Keyboard paths, labels and contrast tested on every screen |
| Time zones | Queensland and WA do not use daylight saving; NSW and Victoria do | Store times in UTC, display in the user's zone |
| Addresses | State and four-digit postcode | Validated address fields with suburb lookup |
Our Australia web page sets out how we handle offshore access to your data.
Stack and delivery
Our default is Next.js and React with a Postgres database and an API layer, deployed to a host with an Australian region if you want one. Authentication uses a proven library or provider rather than a home-made login, with optional two-factor sign-in for staff. We choose mainstream parts so another developer can take over later. Read the web app development service page for the full stack, or the Next.js vs WordPress comparison if you are weighing options.
- Scope workshopUsers, roles, screens, data and integrations written down in plain language.
- Clickable designThe main flows as screens you can click through before code is written.
- Weekly buildsEach week a working version is deployed to a test address you can use.
- Acceptance and launchA test checklist you sign, data import, training notes and a monitored release.
Between demos, one project lead is your single contact. Questions go in writing with a stated day for the answer, and every change to scope is priced before it is built, so the final invoice matches the quote unless you chose to add work.

Get my fixed quoteSecurity basics we expect on every build
- Least-privilege roles, so a receptionist cannot see what only a director should.
- Encryption in transit and at rest, with secrets kept out of source code.
- Automated backups and a restore test before launch.
- Dependency updates tracked, so known issues do not sit unpatched.
- An audit log of who viewed or changed sensitive records.
Some Australian buyers, especially in government, health and finance, will ask about security frameworks such as the Essential Eight published by the Australian Signals Directorate. We can map our controls to them, but a formal assessment is a separate engagement.
Moving data from the old system
Most apps replace something: a spreadsheet, an old database, a set of emails. Data import is often the largest unknown, so we ask for a sample file in the first week and tell you what needs cleaning. Duplicate customers, free-text addresses and mixed date formats are the usual problems. We import in stages, compare totals with your original, and keep the old system read-only until you sign off.
Pricing and timeline
Projects start at $1,500 and our hourly rate is $30. A single-purpose tool with one user role is near the start. Multiple roles, integrations with Xero or MYOB, document generation, payments and data migration add time. Our web app cost guide shows how scope translates to hours. Remote delivery means weekly demos at a time that suits you: with Perth two and a half hours ahead of India, and the east coast four and a half to five and a half, there is a convenient hour for every city.

Web app development that starts with your process
A web app should replace a spreadsheet, an inbox or a patchwork of tools. We map how work happens today, then build only what removes the friction.
Pricing guideHow much does a web app cost in 2026?
Web apps are priced on how many things they track and how many actions people take on them. Count both and the quote becomes easier to judge.
