In short

Liftup Technologies builds web applications for Swedish companies, working remotely from India. Typical projects are customer portals, booking and case systems and internal tools. We use Next.js and React, host in the EU, plan BankID sign-in and role-based access, and keep audit logs for GDPR. A fixed quote follows a short call.

What Swedish teams usually build

A web app is a site where people do something: log in, check status, book, upload, approve. In Sweden the common requests are a customer portal that replaces email threads, a booking system for a clinic or trade, a case-handling tool for an association, and internal dashboards that replace shared spreadsheets.

The first question is who signs in and how they prove who they are. Staff can use company single sign-on. Consumers and patients are often expected to use BankID. Business partners may use email and a second factor. The answer shapes cost and timing more than any screen design. Our web app development service page covers the general build.

Many projects start with a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet is useful evidence: it shows the real columns, the real exceptions and the real people who edit it. We usually ask for a copy during the scope call and use it to shape the data model.

Design decisions that are different in Sweden

DecisionCommon Swedish choiceNote
Sign-inBankID for consumers; SSO for staffBankID is arranged through a bank or an authorized reseller, so start the paperwork early
HostingEU region, often a Nordic or German data centerBuyers frequently ask where data is stored
Localesv-SE for dates, numbers and currency; Swedish interface textUse the browser's Intl features, not hand-written formatting
PaymentsSwish, Klarna or invoiceProvider contracts set the timeline
InvoicesLink to Fortnox, Visma or a Peppol-capable providerPublic-sector customers often require e-invoices
Identity numbersStore personnummer only when truly neededSwedish law limits when they may be processed; check with a lawyer

We write these decisions down in a one-page technical brief before development starts, so nothing is a surprise at quote time.

Privacy, security and accessibility

  • GDPR by design: collect the minimum, set retention rules, add export and delete functions, and keep an audit log of who viewed or changed personal data. IMY is the supervising authority in Sweden.
  • Role-based access, input validation, encrypted connections and encrypted backups as the baseline for every app.
  • Accessibility: forms, tables and dialogs tested with keyboard and screen reader against WCAG 2.2 AA. The European Accessibility Act, applicable since 28 June 2025, reaches some consumer services, so ask your lawyer if yours is one.
  • Cookies: a logged-in portal still needs consent for non-essential tracking. We keep analytics minimal inside the app.

Use the GDPR website checklist as a starting point for your own review.

Penetration testing by an independent party is worth planning for apps that hold sensitive data. We prepare the app for it and fix findings, but the test itself should come from someone who did not build the system.

How a project runs

  1. Scope call and technical briefUsers, roles, data, integrations, sign-in method and hosting region.
  2. Clickable prototypeMain flows in Swedish for your staff to try within the first two weeks.
  3. Build in short cyclesA working version on a test address every week, with release notes.
  4. Testing with real usersA pilot group uses it for real work before the wider launch.
  5. Launch and handoverDocumentation, monitoring and a support window; code and accounts are yours.

We work from Pune and meet in Swedish mornings. Stockholm 09:00 is 12:30 or 13:30 Pune time, depending on whether Sweden is on summer time. Decisions are recorded in writing after each call.

Swedish holidays change delivery plans. Midsummer, the weeks around Christmas and most of July are slow for client reviews, so we agree a release calendar early and avoid launches in those weeks.

What it costs

Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour. A small internal tool with one role and a simple database sits near the start. BankID, payments, several roles, integrations and reporting add scope. We often suggest a first release that covers the one workflow that hurts most, then extend. The web app cost guide lists the drivers. If your idea is a product to sell, see our SaaS development page for Sweden.

The quote is fixed for the agreed scope. If you add a feature mid-project, we price it separately and you decide before any work starts, so the invoice never grows without your approval.

Questions, answered

Is BankID required for a customer portal?
No, but Swedish users are used to it and it removes password resets. If you handle sensitive data, it is the normal choice. Otherwise email with a second factor can work.
Where will our data be stored?
In the EU region you choose. We name the provider and region in the quote and in your privacy documentation.
Which technologies do you use?
Next.js and React on the front end, with a Node or Python back end and a managed PostgreSQL database in most cases. We pick based on your team's ability to maintain it.
Can the app connect to our accounting system?
If the system has an API, yes. Fortnox and Visma both do. We confirm what your licence includes before quoting.
Can we start small?
Yes, and we suggest it. A first release for one workflow shows value fast and tells you what the second release should include.
