Ecommerce SEO in Canada

Ecommerce SEO for Canadian online stores

Canadian shoppers compare your store with US giants and with domestic retailers. SEO has to show them Canadian prices, Canadian shipping and a store that is clearly meant for them.

In short

Liftup Technologies provides ecommerce SEO for Canadian online stores, working remotely from India. We fix category and product pages, product data and structured data, set up en-CA and fr-CA versions where needed, and plan content around Boxing Day and Black Friday. Results are reported from your own Google Search Console. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

The problem Canadian stores run into

A common pattern: a store built for the US market adds a Canadian shipping zone and calls itself done. Google sees near-identical pages for two countries, shows prices in US dollars, and ranks neither well. Shoppers who land on the page see duties and shipping surprises at checkout and leave.

Good ecommerce SEO for Canada makes the store unmistakably Canadian. That means prices in CAD, delivery times for Canadian postal codes, return terms that apply in Canada and a language option for Quebec. It also means technical hygiene, because most store traffic is lost on duplicate URLs, thin category pages and slow templates.

Prices, tax and the buyer's total

Canadian shoppers usually see prices before tax, with GST, HST, PST or QST added by destination at checkout. Your product data has to match what the page shows, or Google may disapprove items in the free listings. The Competition Act also treats prices that leave out mandatory fees as a misleading practice, so shipping surcharges should not appear for the first time at the last step.

We check that the price in your schema, your feed and your page agree, and that shipping and return pages are easy to find. Whether and how you show tax is a decision for your accountant.

Content that wins category searches

Category pages carry most of a store's organic revenue, yet many Canadian stores leave them as a grid of products with one line of text. We add a short intro, useful filters that do not create endless URLs, and a buying guide below the fold written for the way Canadians shop.

Useful Canadian topics are practical ones: delivery times to remote regions, what happens with duties and brokerage fees when an item ships from the US, how returns work across provinces, and how to compare sizes or specifications. These pages answer questions people type into Google, and they also give AI search tools clear passages to quote. See our AI search page for Canada for that side.

Internal links tie it together. Guides link down to categories, categories link to the best sellers, and product pages link back up. We map this before writing, using your Search Console queries and a short competitor study, so effort goes where demand is.

English and French stores

A Quebec audience means French category names, product copy, filters and checkout text. Machine translations of product titles often miss how Quebec shoppers search. We set up fr-CA pages as full pages, not overlays, and each one needs its own title and description. If you are a Quebec business, Quebec's French-language rules for commercial websites apply, so confirm requirements with your lawyer. The international SEO service covers the structure.

Working together and pricing

We work remotely, with calls in Canadian mornings: 9:00 in Toronto is 19:30 in India in winter. You get an audit first, then monthly work against a short priority list. Projects start at $1,500 and our rate is $30 an hour, in US dollars. The ecommerce SEO cost guide explains what moves the price, and the service page lists the scope.

Questions, answered

Should my store have a separate Canadian site?
Only if prices, shipping, range or language differ. If so, use a /ca/ section or a .ca domain with hreflang. If not, one site with Canadian settings is simpler.
Do you handle Google Merchant Center feeds?
Yes. We clean titles, GTINs, prices, availability and shipping so free product listings are accurate for Canada.
Is Boxing Day important for SEO?
For retail it is one of the largest sale days. Pages should exist and be indexed before December, not published the day before.
Do you work on Shopify and WooCommerce?
Yes, along with other platforms. Each has its own duplicate URL and template issues.
How is progress reported?
From your own Search Console, with impressions, clicks and indexed pages by section.
Do I need French pages for Quebec?
If you sell to Quebec customers, French pages improve reach and trust, and Quebec businesses face legal rules on French. Start with your top categories and expand as sales show demand.
