In short

Liftup Technologies builds and maintains WordPress and WooCommerce sites for Canadian businesses, working remotely from India with calls booked in Canadian mornings. We handle custom themes, bilingual English and French setups, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, CASL and PIPEDA-aware forms, speed and security. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call, and you own the site.

Why Canadian businesses choose WordPress

WordPress gives a business control of its content without a developer for every edit. Clinics update opening hours, contractors add project photos and manufacturers publish spec sheets, all by themselves. It also has a mature ecosystem for French translation, forms, booking and online stores.

The trade-off is upkeep. Plugins need updates, themes get bloated and neglected sites become targets for attackers. A Canadian site that has not been touched in two years usually needs a clean-up before it needs a redesign. Our WordPress security checklist covers what we check first.

English and French in WordPress

Multilingual plugins such as Polylang and WPML are common choices. The right one depends on your theme, your store and how many languages you expect. In both cases each page should exist in each language with its own URL, and the language switcher should go to the matching page, not the home page. Site-wide strings such as buttons, form labels and error messages need translating too. If you serve Quebec, remember that Quebec's Charter of the French Language applies to commercial websites, so confirm what is required with your lawyer.

Accessibility, privacy and consent

A theme can look polished and still fail a keyboard user. We test headings, focus order, form labels, contrast and alt text, because Ontario's AODA expects accessible websites from larger organizations and WCAG 2.2 AA is a sensible target everywhere. Privacy is handled through a consent banner, a clear policy and careful tag setup. PIPEDA applies nationally, and Quebec Law 25 adds stricter rules for Quebec visitors, so analytics and advertising tags load only after the right choice.

Planning notes, not legal advice. Your lawyer supplies the policy wording.

Speed, plugins, hosting and care

Speed on a WordPress site comes from fewer, better plugins, properly sized images, a good host and sensible caching. We audit what is installed and remove what is not used. Every plugin we keep has a reason, an owner and an update plan. Large sliders, social feeds and heavy page builders are the usual suspects when a site feels slow on a phone.

Visitors in Canada reach you from fast city fibre and from slow rural connections, so we test with throttled mobile profiles, not just on the office laptop. Fonts, scripts and tracking tags load in a sensible order, and images use modern formats with fallbacks.

Many Canadian hosts offer data centres in Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver, and some customers prefer that for data location or speed. It is not a legal requirement for most private businesses, but certain sectors and public contracts may set conditions, so check your contract terms. We help you pick a host, set up staging and move the site with minimal downtime.

After launch, we offer a monthly care plan: updates tested on staging, daily backups kept off the server, uptime alerts and a short report. Plans are quoted by the hour, and you can cancel without losing access to anything.
