Why Danish companies stay with WordPress
WordPress is easy for non-developers to edit, has Danish translations for its core and most major plugins, and does not tie you to one agency. Those are real advantages for a Danish company where marketing staff want to change text themselves. The risks are equally real: plugin sprawl, neglected updates and sites that end up slow. Good WordPress work is about restraint.
Our WordPress development service builds custom themes with only the plugins that earn their place. If you are weighing alternatives, read Webflow vs WordPress first.
Danish setup, step by step
| Task | What we do | Why for Denmark |
|---|---|---|
| Language | Site language set to Danish (da_DK), Danish date and currency formats, translated strings in theme and plugins | Admin staff and visitors both see Danish, with kr. and dd-mm-yyyy formats |
| Consent | A consent management plugin or service you choose, scripts blocked until consent | The Danish cookie order requires informed consent for non-essential cookies |
| Forms | Minimal fields, a short privacy note, spam protection without tracking | GDPR data minimization; Datatilsynet expects clear purpose |
| Company details | CVR number, address and contact route in the footer | Expected on Danish commercial sites |
| WooCommerce | DKK, moms-inclusive display, shipping zones, payment gateway of your choice | Consumer prices include 25% moms |
| Backups and updates | Scheduled backups, tested restore, update routine | Needed for your records and for incident response |
Hosting and where the data lives
Plenty of Danish businesses use Danish or EU hosts, for example one.com or Simply.com, because support is in Danish and servers are in Europe. That is a reasonable default, not a legal requirement for every site. What matters under GDPR is that you know where form submissions, backups and logs sit, that a data processing agreement exists with the host, and that sub-processors are listed in your privacy notice.
We can work on your current host or move you. Because we are in India, we use staging copies without live customer data wherever possible, and we use time-limited access that you can revoke. The standard contractual clauses and a transfer assessment cover the remaining cases. Details are on the Denmark web page.

WordPress is attacked all the time because it is widely used. Most successful attacks come through outdated plugins, weak passwords or abandoned themes. We follow our WordPress security checklist: limited admin accounts, two-factor login, update schedule, a firewall layer, file-change monitoring and tested backups.
- Plugins are listed with owner, purpose and last update date. Anything unmaintained is replaced.
- Staging is used for every update that touches checkout or forms.
- A monthly maintenance report covers updates applied, backup status and uptime.
- A breach plan names who tells Datatilsynet and the people affected, in line with the 72-hour GDPR notification rule; your lawyer confirms the process.
Rebuilding or migrating an old site
Many Danish WordPress sites we are asked about are five or more years old, built on a multipurpose theme, and heavy with page-builder markup. We choose between three paths and say which fits before you commit.
- Clean up: remove unused plugins, update what is safe to update, fix speed and security. Lowest cost, but the design stays.
- Rebuild on a lightweight custom theme: new design, same content, 301 redirects from every old URL so search rankings carry over.
- Move to another platform: sensible when the site has changed purpose, for example from brochure to a large store.
Whichever you pick, we crawl the old site first and keep a redirect map. Danish URLs that contain æ, ø or å are checked one by one, because they are often encoded differently in old sitemaps. Our website migration checklist lists the steps.
Accessibility and speed
WordPress themes vary wildly in accessibility. We build to WCAG 2.2 AA, which also supports your position under the European Accessibility Act where it applies from 28 June 2025. Speed is handled by caching, image sizing and removing plugins that load scripts site-wide. We measure with field data, and you can run our Core Web Vitals check yourself at any time.
Working together and price
A project has one named lead, a staging site you can open any day and a weekly demo. Danish business hours overlap with India from 09:00 to around 14:30 in winter and 15:30 in summer, and that is when calls happen. Projects start at $1,500 and extra hours cost $30. Page count, custom post types, WooCommerce and migrations move the price. See the WordPress cost guide for ranges.
