In short

Liftup Technologies develops WordPress and WooCommerce websites for UK businesses, working remotely from India with an office in Coventry. The work includes custom themes or block-based builds, plugin selection, WooCommerce setup, security hardening and ongoing maintenance. UK needs such as PECR cookie consent, WCAG 2.2 AA and VAT-inclusive pricing are part of the build. You get a fixed quote within one working day of a short call.

Why UK businesses still choose WordPress

WordPress runs a large share of the web, which means a deep pool of UK freelancers, plugins and hosting. For a business that wants to edit its own pages, add blog posts and connect to a CRM, it remains a practical choice. The risk is poor build quality: a bought theme, thirty plugins, no updates and a slow site.

Our approach is the opposite. We use a lean, purpose-built theme or block setup, a short list of reviewed plugins, and a written maintenance routine. If another platform fits better, we say so. See WordPress vs Webflow and Next.js vs WordPress for the main alternatives.

Another reason UK firms stay with WordPress is ownership. The content is in a database you control, the files can move between hosts, and no vendor can lock you in by changing a pricing tier. That portability matters if you later change agency, and we design the handover so it works without us.

What the development covers

Theme and templates

A custom theme or block-based design matched to your brand, with editable layouts for your team.

WooCommerce

Product types, tax, shipping zones, payment gateways and order emails set up for UK selling.

Plugins and custom code

A short plugin list, with custom code only where a plugin would be heavy or risky.

Forms and integrations

Enquiry forms, CRM, email platform and booking tools connected, with spam control.

Security and backups

Hardened logins, update routine, off-site backups and monitoring.

Our WordPress development service page lists the deliverables, and the WordPress security checklist shows what we check.

Hosting, updates and the maintenance question

A WordPress site is never finished the day it launches. Core, theme and plugin updates arrive monthly, and old versions are the usual route for attacks. We offer two options. You can take the site to your own host and manage it, with a handover document and a short training call. Or we run monthly maintenance: updates tested on a staging copy, backups checked, uptime monitored and a short report.

Pick a host that matches your traffic. A brochure site needs little. A WooCommerce store with Black Friday spikes needs more memory and caching. We advise after reviewing expected traffic, and the hosting account stays in your name. The website maintenance service explains the monthly plan.

We also keep an eye on plugin choice for accessibility and performance. A slider or popup plugin may look fine in a demo and fail keyboard testing or add a second of load time on a mid-range phone, so we test before adding any plugin to the project.

How we run a UK WordPress project

You get one lead and a weekly demo on a staging site. The UK is 5.5 hours behind India in winter and 4.5 in summer, so demos at 09:30 or 10:00 UK time suit both sides. Content is loaded by us or by your team, whichever you prefer. Before launch we run a speed check, an accessibility pass, a form test and a backup restore test.

UK spelling: set the site language to English (UK) in WordPress settings so date formats and the editor use British conventions, and keep copy in UK spelling.

Pricing

Projects start at $1,500, with extra work at $30 an hour. Page count, custom templates, WooCommerce catalogue size, integrations and content migration drive the price. Our WordPress website cost guide shows typical ranges and factors, and the UK web page covers wider delivery details. The fixed quote arrives within one working day of the call.

Questions, answered

Can you take over an existing WordPress site?
Yes. We start with a review of the theme, plugins, security and speed, then quote fixes or a rebuild.
Do you use page builders?
We use the block editor and, where a client prefers, Elementor. We choose by editing needs and speed targets.
Is WordPress secure enough for a UK business?
A maintained site with limited plugins, strong logins and backups is well protected. Neglected sites are the problem.
Can the site handle UK cookie rules?
Yes. We configure consent so non-essential scripts wait for choice. Your adviser should confirm notice wording.
Who owns the site and the code?
You do. Hosting, domain and admin accounts are in your name.
How long does a build take?
A typical business site takes four to six weeks. A WooCommerce store takes six to ten.
