Ireland web development

Web development agency for Ireland

Irish websites sit under EU law but have their own habits: Eircodes, the Data Protection Commission, and a time zone that shares an abbreviation with India. We build for Irish businesses remotely and explain the local rules in plain terms.

In short

Liftup Technologies builds websites for Irish businesses on WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Next.js. We set up GDPR and ePrivacy consent, the company details Irish law expects on a site, Eircode-friendly forms and EU VAT handling for online sales. Irish mornings fall in the Indian afternoon. You get a fixed quote after a short call.

A time zone with a confusing name

In Ireland, IST means Irish Standard Time, which is the summer clock at UTC+1. In India, IST means India Standard Time, UTC+5:30. In a booking email, write the city and the offset, never the three letters alone.

Dublin timeWinter (GMT)Summer (Irish Standard Time)
09:0014:30 in India13:30 in India
11:0016:30 in India15:30 in India
14:0019:30 in India18:30 in India

The gap is 5 hours 30 minutes in winter and 4 hours 30 minutes in summer. Ireland changed to winter time on 25 October 2026, so the larger gap applies now.

What Irish law expects on a business site

Ireland applies GDPR through the Data Protection Act 2018, and the regulator is the Data Protection Commission. Cookies and electronic marketing sit under the 2011 ePrivacy Regulations, which means consent is needed before non-essential cookies and before marketing emails to individuals.

Companies registered in Ireland also have to show certain details on their website: the company name, registration number, place of registration and registered office. It is a footer item that gets forgotten on new builds, so we put it on the launch list.

  • Consent banner with equal-weight accept and reject buttons.
  • Privacy notice naming the controller and listing processors such as hosting, forms and email tools.
  • Company registration details in the footer.
  • Eircode field on address forms, with a check that does not reject valid codes.
  • Contact route that a person actually reads.

A transfer point matters if your data goes to a developer in India: there is no EU adequacy decision for India, so personal data access needs a transfer mechanism such as standard contractual clauses and a processing agreement. We build against fake data where we can, so that stays a short document.

Selling online from Ireland to the EU

An Irish store that sells to consumers in other EU countries deals with VAT in those countries. The EU One Stop Shop scheme lets you report and pay that VAT through one Irish return instead of registering in every state. A good shop build shows the correct VAT rate for the delivery country and records it on the order, so your accountant can file from the export.

Irish domestic VAT is 23 percent at the standard rate. For a B2B purchase of development services from India, the reverse charge normally applies and you account for the VAT yourself, but confirm that with your accountant.

On Shopify these rules come from store settings and markets; on WooCommerce they come from tax plugins. Both need to be tested with sample orders going to Ireland, France and Germany before launch. Our Shopify development and ecommerce solutions pages explain how a store project runs.

Costs and how contracts usually work

We do not publish prices for our own work. Market data from Clutch says most web projects fall under $10,000, and the average is $66,499, both in US dollars. For an Irish buyer thinking in euro, that is a reminder to ask for the quote in the currency you want to pay.

A remote project contract should name five things: scope with a list of pages or features, a fixed price per milestone, who owns the code and accounts at the end, who may access personal data, and which country's law applies. Ask for all five on paper. We are happy to work from your contract template.

Choosing a platform, with examples

A professional services firm in Ireland normally wants a fast brochure site its staff can edit, so WordPress or Webflow are the starting points. If speed or complex content structure matters most, headless Next.js is worth discussing.

Two projects show how this works in practice: Aura Realty, a property advisory where we built the website and a custom CRM to track every enquiry, and Asian Packaging, a manufacturer site with a 67-product catalogue and quote requests. Neither is Irish, but both show how we organize catalogue-heavy and lead-driven sites.

Questions, answered

Do you have an office in Ireland?
No. Liftup has its head office in Pune, India, and offices in Coventry in the UK and New York in the USA. Work with Irish clients is done remotely.
Is GDPR consent the same in Ireland as elsewhere in the EU?
The law is the same, but Irish cookie consent comes from the 2011 ePrivacy Regulations, with the Data Protection Commission as the regulator. Practically, that means no non-essential cookies before a clear yes.
Can the site take Eircodes in address fields?
Yes. We add an Eircode field and validate its format loosely, so a correct code is never rejected because of a spacing difference.
How do you handle VAT on an online store?
We configure store tax settings for Irish VAT and, where you sell across the EU, for the delivery country's rate, then test with sample orders. Your accountant decides your registration and One Stop Shop position.
What time do we speak?
Mid-morning in Dublin is mid-afternoon in India, so most calls happen between 9:00 and 12:00 Irish time.
